Rustico Roldan, or much popularly known as Carlos Salazar took up the screen name of Carlos Salazar and began his career with LVN Pictures and made several hit movies.

Salazar became one of the most popular "bida-kontrabida" (lead character) actors at the time, often portraying key characters in movies.

Carlos "Rusty" Salazar was at the peak of his career as a famous movie actor when he decided to leave showbiz behind to focus on his family.

He was at the peak of his career, doing a minimum of four movies a year, when he fell in love at first sight with Carmen "Menchu" Fernandez, a commercial model. Although his wife did not ask him to leave showbiz, he decided to do just, since he believed this would make her and their seven children happier.

He was a Filipino actor and a Matinee idol in the '50s.

He remained active on movies up to mid-1980s.

After leaving the limelight, he worked as a singer in some hotels. Salazar admitted that he missed working as an actor terribly, but his family was more important for him.

Salazar was discovered after he played the lead role in a stage play at the Far Eastern University (FEU). After his performance, Fernando Poe, Sr., invited him for coffee and asked him whether he wanted to become a movie actor, boasting that he can make Salazar a big star in just a year. At that time, Salazar was a college freshman and had to consult his mother first before deciding on joining showbiz.

According to his son Anton Ram Fernandez Roldan was his father Carlos Rusty Salazar the oldest living Pinoy male actor.

His wife died of leukemia in 2014.

He played support to most of the leading men that time: Mario Montenegro, Nestor de Villa, Jaime de la Rosa and Pancho Magalona, all of whom has gone to the great beyond.

Carlos Salazar was originally an LVN Pictures ( Filipino film studio that was considered one of the biggest in the history of Philippine cinema) star. He first joined the movies in 1952 supporting the late Armando Goyena in the comedy, "Tiya Loleng".

After making about 15 movies for LVN Pictures Salazar made one movie under Champion Pictures which was titled Objective: Patayin si Magsaysay in addition to one movie under Larry Santiago Production for Student Canteen.

He was launched to stardom in 1955 playing the title role in "Salamangkero".
