During the writers' strike of 2007-2008, he chose financial core status with the Writers Guild of America and continued working. He was the only non-soap opera writer to do so.

In 2014, he wrote a draft for an earlier script of Um Tira da Pesada 4: Axel Foley (2024) but the script was rejected.

Wrote both "The Authority: Human on the Inside," & "The Razor's Edge: Warblade #1-5" graphic novels. as well as The American Way comic book miniseries, which he almost wrote and directed the film adaptation for Blumhouse.

He wrote an article for the Los Angeles Times on June 8, 2020 asking HBO Max to remove ...E o Vento Levou (1939) from its library because it glorified the antebellum south and ignored "the horrors of slavery".

He created a television series as part of the Tron franchise for Disney+, but it was never greenlit.
