Was hired to direct "Children of the Living Dead" with no AD, no Script Supervisor, no Makeup Department, no Wardrobe Department, and an Art Department consisting of one person who rarely was on set, and then only to take stills. Despite that, Ramsey convinced his financiers to add money to the budget for Tom Savini, therefore giving the movie at least one salable element. During production, some of the producers claimed he was destroying the picture by allowing Savini to take over the opening sequence.

On Urban Mythology (2000): "My first day of shooting was the first time I had ever been on a movie set. My AD really didn't think I was going to be able to run set, when out of the blue I asked my DP to swap out the 35 prime for a 25, and frame the actor right of frame which ought to give the other actor a window in the upper left hand side to drop down into. Right after that when faced with a screen direction problem, I told Gregg to start the next shot with talent off screen, pulling off another couple, drop the last line of dialogue from the last shot over that first frame before talent entered frame, so I could cut off the first shot before the actors exited frame to kill the screen direction problem. My AD asked me how the hell I knew all this stuff. The joke was on him - I didn't know anything. I just acted like I did and picked up on it as I went along."
