In the last years of his life he continued to work for the theater and the film, so he appeared in the productions "Skandal in der Botschaft" (1950), "Die Diebin von Bagdad" (1952) and "Ludwig II" (1954) - his last film role.

Father of Erik Ode

The son of an Imperial Court actor, Odemar appeared on stage from 1909, in films from 1927. Impeccably well-spoken and a picture of sartorial elegance, he invariably sported cane and monocle, often personifying dandies, town elders or aristocrats, even the occasional police inspector.

Odemar's father was the actor Fritz Odemar Sr. (Karl Julius Friedrich Odemar; 1858-1926).

The actor Fritz Odemar began his theater career in 1909 at the Theater in Münster. In the following years he worked in Koblenz, Bremen, Mannheim and from 1921 at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt.

His engagements in the film business became more extensive with the talkies. He impersonated different characters and became soon very popular. Especially his performances of English characters were very successful.

After the war he continued his career with stage roles for the present before he started the last phase of his career in the 50's with the movies "Film ohne Titel" (1947) and "Begegnung mit Werther" (1949).

He made his film debut in the silent movie era with "Der fröhliche Weinberg" (1927).
