- The voice of Peter Venkman in Os Caça-Fantasmas (1986) and Garfield in numerous cartoons. Peter Venkman was played by Bill Murray in Os Caça-Fantasmas (1984). Bill Murray is the voice of Garfield in Garfield: O Filme (2004): The Movie.
- Best known as the drunken, unseen doorman Carlton on Rhoda (1974) and as the voice of Garfield on TV -- both voice roles.
- Never being seen on Rhoda (1974) as Carlton the doorman - and becoming well-known for it - gave him the idea of never being photographed directly in public or on film. Either he'd have something blocking his face, or he'd only be seen in silhouette.
- Co-wrote The Bob Newhart Show (1972) theme song with his wife Henrietta.
