It's an exciting time to be a fan of the HBO Max medical drama series The Pitt, and not just because the second season is in the works and on the way. The series just scored its first round of Emmy Award nominations, landing 13 total nominations for season 1, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Noah Wyle), and Outstanding Supporting Actress (Katherine Lanasa).

But if you were holding out hope that all of the show's success with the Emmy Award nominations, combined with its viewership accomplishments and growing fandom, would quickly lead to HBO Max starting to branch out with spinoff series, you're going to have to lower those hopes. HBO and HBO Max's content chairman just confirmed a Pitt franchise isn't imminently in the cards.

Exclusive: Sarah Jane Morris and Alexis Vazquez have joined the cast of Jorge Xolalpa’s immigration thriller Huehxolotl.

Deadline has learned that they will join Maya Zapata, Elyfer Torres, Katherine Castro and Alexander James Rodriguez in the film, which is billed as a “tense, character-driven legal thriller exploring the emotional, cultural, and systemic battles faced by undocumented immigrants in America.” We revealed news of Xolalpa’s pic in March.

Brothers & Sisters star Morris will play Helen, a district attorney who, while passing by, witnesses an illegal Ice detention attempt targeting lead character Xochitl and her sister Nayeli (Torres) outside their family-owned restaurant. Only one episode remains until Dr. Robby and the medical team at The Pitt finish out their long, chaotic shift. Before that, however, the first season's penultimate episode introduced two new characters into the fold that series star and executive producer Noah Wyle was very excited for. The first was a cameo for the Chucky fans, as Brad Dourif reunited on-screen with his daughter Fiona Dourif to play the in-universe father to her character, Dr. Cassie McKay. The other, meanwhile, gave some added depth to Robby, with Brothers & Sisters star Sarah Jane Morris stepping in to play the senior attending physician's ex-girlfriend, Janey. In an interview with TV Line, Wyle discussed both the personal and in-universe importance of bringing the two actors on board before the season finale.

Mystery solved… well, sort of: The penultimate episode of The Pitt stopped short of revealing the identity of the PittFest shooter, but cleared troubled teen David of any wrongdoing.

Roughly a third of the way through Episode 14, chief medical officer Gloria informed the emergency department that S.W.A.T. found the shooter, already dead, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His identity and his motive remain unknown — but to Dana’s point, “Does it matter?”

Nick Searcy’s “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer” doesn’t so much play like a movie as it does an oversized episode of “Law & Order.” The events have been ripped from horrifying headlines. The first half is all about catching a killer. The second half is about prosecuting him. And when its done, you can’t help but feel you didn’t get the whole story.

Unlike “Law & Order,” Searcy’s film isn’t just inspired by reality. “Gosnell” tells the story of Kermit Gosnell, a doctor who ran a Pennsylvania abortion clinic which, for many years, operated in unsafe, unclean and unprofessional conditions. His staff was untrained. His methods were monstrous. Gosnell was directly responsible for the death of at least one patient, and gave illegal, late-term “abortions” by killing living infants outside of the womb.

NBC’s Grimm this Friday rebounded from its Week 2 downturn, drawing 4.9 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating, up 9 and 18 percent.

Leading out of that, Constantine (3.1 mil/1.0) ticked up one tenth.

Over on CBS, Amazing Race (6.1 mil/1.2) added some eyeballs and a tenth in the demo, Hawaii Five-0‘s 100th episode (8.9 mil/1.2) dipped in audience but added a tenth in the demo, while Blue Bloods (11.4 mil/1.4) surged 27 percent in the demo.

ABC’s Last Man Standing (6.6 mil/1.3) was up a tenth, Cristela (5 mil/1.0) was flat and Shark Tank (7.8 mil/1.9) ticked down.

Halloween is an occasion oft mutually enjoyed by both parents and their kids, so it was fitting that as Thomas Gibson directed tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds (CBS, 9/8c), his 12-year-old son was among the guest cast.

CBS | 2 Broke Girls returned to 8.4 mil and a 2.4, up from its May finale (6.5 mil/2.0) but down from both its previous premiere (8.9 mil/2.8, at 9 pm) and How I Met Your Mother‘s year-ago opener in the Monday lead-off spot (9.4 mil/3.7). We’re also talking 40 percent lower numbers than the mighty Big Bang last did in the time slot.

NCIS‘ erstwhile Ej Barrett is resurfacing on another CBS procedural.

TVLine has learned that Sarah Jane Morris will guest-star on Hawaii Five-0 this season, playing Dr. Christine Auki, a happily married wife, mother and surgeon who has a most unusual day at the office as the episode plays out.

In addition to her Season 8/9 arc on NCIS, Morris’ previous TV credits include episodes of Criminal Minds, Body of Proof and Castle, and of course Brothers & Sisters.

Hawaii Five-0 airs Fridays at 9/8c, Morris will appear in Episode 12.

With Criminal Minds firmly within the CBS family of crime procedurals, it makes perfect sense Sarah Jane Morris would be invited to do a guest spot in the upcoming ninth season. There was a time when Morris played an agent on the networks No. 1 rated drama, NCIS. Now that NCIS is firmly in her past, Morris is more than welcome to lend her talents to other CBS procedurals and Criminal Minds just happens to be the one to extend the invitation. However, though I wish this could be a crossover and Morris would play her NCIS character, she’ll be playing someone new. Though less exciting, it’s still enough to get me jived about her appearance.

Sarah Jane Morris has booked a return to CBS.

The former NCIS agent will guest star on an episode of Criminal Minds Season 9, network sources confirm, coming on board as the target of that week's killer.

The series returns on Wednesday, September 25.

Morris, meanwhile, will appear on the A&E drama Occult and has previously stopped by episodes of Castle, Body of Proof and Brothers & Sisters.

Onetime NCIS agent Sarah Jane Morris will find herself looking down the wrong end of a gun barrel (or a harpoon spear, or a human marionette pulley, or whatever twisted modus homicidii is at play) when she guest-stars on CBS’ Criminal Minds this fall.

Morris will appear in the sixth episode of Season 9 as a target of the killer du jour, TVLine has learned.

An new pilot in development over at A&E may just echo the presence of Fox “Spooky” Mulder on the small screen. The pilot is called Occult and NCIS alumnus Sarah Jane Morris will spirit up a performance.

We’ve seen shows promise to offer some of that magic the X-Files delivered in its prime before, but the pilot for Occult has a leg up on such hopefuls. It was written by X-Files scribe James Wong.

That tidbit was the first item to get my attention. Ready for the second? The pilot will star Josh Lucas. Can I get a woot, woot? I’m a Lucas fan. How can you not like those soulful blue eyes. The actor was the best thing about the short lived series modeled after The Firm.

It’s always great news when a show idea we’ve been following actually starts casting; it gets us thinking that the thing might actually get made. We first told you about Occult, a pilot picked up by A&E, last fall. It’s a Michael Bay (Transformers) -produced series about an FBI occult crimes task force, centering on FBI Agent Dolan, who joins the new unit upon his return from administrative leave, so ordered after going off the deep end while investigating his wife’s disappearance.

Word now comes from TVLine that things are moving along in the casting department, with the most recent hire being Sarah Jane Morris (NCIS) as that missing wife. So presumably we’ll be seeing her in flashbacks, or… hmm!

Even with a midseason return and a shorter run this time, Dana Delany is happy her latest series still has life.

It actually can be considered a new life, since the ABC medical mystery "Body of Proof" will reflect significant changes as its third season starts Tuesday, Feb. 19. Delany's Dr. Megan Hunt will be without several colleagues who were present from the show's start: Peter Dunlop (Nicholas Bishop), her investigator, who was stabbed by an enemy of Megan's in the Season 2 finale, and homicide detectives Bud Morris and Samantha Baker (John Carroll Lynch, Sonja Sohn).

Actress Sarah Jane Morris played Julia Walker on Brothers & Sisters once upon a time, but her story continues as she signs on for a guest spot on ABC’s Body of Proof.

Body of Proof follows Dana Delany as medical examiner Dr. Megan Hunt, who was once a star neurosurgeon until a car accident ended her career. Season three kicks off in February of 2013 and in that season’s 12th episode, Sarah Jane Morris will appear as a flight attendant. TV Line reported that her character’s name is Pamela Jacks and she’ll become key in the aftermath of an “airline tragedy”. I wonder if this episode was at all inspired by the recent Denzel Washington film, Flight.

According to TVLine, the "RuPaul's Drag Race" star will appear on the ABC sitcom as Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Jane's (Eliza Coupe) regular hairdresser. RuPaul will take on Max (Adam Pally) as a client in the in the early 2013 episode.

Vampire Diaries and NCIS Vets Enter Castle Together?

ABC’s Castle is borrowing some talent from The Vampire Diaries and NCIS for an upcoming episode. The people in question are Sarah Jane Morris, who appeared on NCIS in 2011 as Special Agent Ej Barrett, and Taylor Kinney, who played Mason Lockwood on Vampire Diaries. The two are allegedly playing a married couple when they appear in the same episode together. Unfortunately, only Morris’ involvement has been confirmed at this time, but keep your fingers crossed for Kinney.

Taylor Kinney, beloved by fans of that CW series for his role as Mason Lockwood, will guest star later this season on the latter ABC hit, stopping by as the husband of a character played by Sarah Jane Morris.

Here's the scoop on episode 17: it will be titled "Once Upon a Crime" and feature Morris as the sister of a woman - dressed as Red Riding Hood, the victim of an apparent wolf attack - found dead in Central Park.

Lest fans of Castle‘s “Caskett” worry that Sarah Jane Morris’ character will make a play for Rick, know this: She’s married — and to a hunky Vampire Diaries vet at that.

Sources tell TVLine exclusively that Taylor Kinney, aka Mystic Falls’ erstwhile werewolf, has been cast alongside the NCIS/Brothers & Sisters‘ alumna in an episode of Castle slated to air later this winter. ABC has yet to confirm the scoop.
