Son of Diamond and Sam Morfogen. His father was a Greek immigrant. His mother was born in New York, to Greek parents.

Was a friend of Peter Bogdanovich, whom he met around 1957 when both were appearing with Joseph Papp's Shakespeare in the Park company, when he was cast in "Daisy Miller."

Was supposed to play the part of "Sammy" in the Peter Bogdanovich film "Targets". The character ended up being played by Bogdanovich himself.
