One of the most gifted comedians of all-time is finally getting his day in the sun nearly 20 years after his tragic passing. Mitch Hedberg, who became known for his deadpan delivery of some classic one-liners, will be the subject of a new documentary exploring the life of the late stand-up comic. Hedberg sadly passed away in 2005 following a drug overdose, yet his legend has lived on thanks to platforms like TikTok and YouTube, where his jokes are still viewed by millions every day.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the documentary helmed by Emmy award-winning director Jeff Siegel has been five years in the making. Comedian Mitch Hedberg is set to be the focus of a forthcoming documentary, nearly two decades after his death.

Director Jeff Siegel, who is nominated for a 2024 Emmy, is helming the feature that has wrapped principal photography after a filming process that began five years ago. The project, which is currently untitled and does not yet have a planned release date, is set to include archival footage, home movies and interviews with loved ones, childhood friends and fellow comics.

The filmmakers have conducted more than 100 interviews across the country for the film. Among those offering perspective on Hedberg’s life and career are Lewis Black, Jim Gaffigan, B.J. Novak, Margaret Cho, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Todd Barry, Felicia Michaels, Al Madrigal, Todd Glass, Greg Fitzsimmons, Brendon Small, Gary Gulman and Nick Swardson.

That's how "The Office" star Kate Flannery describes her new all-female stand-up show, "StandUp In Stilettos," coming to the TV Guide Network this month. The show's 12 episodes will feature 36 women, three per episode, performing comedy in front of a live audience. Flannery hopes the easily digestible segments will expose the Guide's browsers to quality comedy of the female variety.

"It's a nice intro for people who might be closed-minded about women in comedy," Flannery said in an interview. "I cannot believe that in all the years that there have been female stand-ups, there has never been a show just for them. The girls can play just as hard as the boys, so I think it's long overdue."

And based on the first (and as of writing, only) comment on the show's preview video on YouTube,...
