Kelsey Grammer has inhabited Dr. Frasier Crane on television for over 40 years (though not consecutively). Starting with his first appearance on "Cheers" in 1984, the acclaimed actor has taken the beloved psychiatrist from the friendly bar in Boston where everyone knows your name to his hometown of Seattle for a long-running spinoff and back to Boston for a short-lived (but hopefully extended) stint as a Harvard professor. Indie streamer Nebula has set the leads for its upcoming anthology series “Sub/liminal,” which boasts multiple Broadway staples.

Nebula describes the six-episode series as in the same vein as “The Twilight Zone” and “Black Mirror,” as it “explores power dynamics in human relationships, and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance.”

Among the stars set to head up “Sub/liminal” are Joseph Cross, Tony winner and Grammy nominee Lena Hall, Olivier and Grammy nominee Caissie Levy, Tony and Emmy winner Kecia Lewis (”Hell’s Kitchen”), Tony nominee and Grammy winner Patrick Page (”Hadestown”) and Tony winner John Rubinstein.

The first season of “Sub/liminal,” which began filming May 19 and is set to premiere in late 2025, includes episodes written and directed by popular creators on the Nebula platform, including Patrick Willems, Amir Moini, Jacob Torpey, Jessie Earl, Joe Scott, Tom van der Linden, Matthew Kelly and Tiana Michele.

Ryan Murphay's medical drama, Doctor Odyssey, remains in danger of being canceled by ABC as even more series get renewal orders. While the new series may be reaching its end, sources say there is a potential bright side.

Deadline reports that ABC recently renewed 9-1-1, Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, Will Trent and Shifting Gears -- but Doctor Odyssey is still on the bubble. The soapy cruise ship medical drama is expensive to make thanks to its high production value and star-studded cast, meaning it could go either way in the end. While the series may end up getting canceled, sources say that the upcoming Season 1 finale has "an ending that could serve as a series finale," meaning that fans won't be left with an unresolved cliffhanger.

Ben Stiller doesn't think his 30-year-old comedy would be released by Disney today. Nevertheless, he can still remember how fun it was to make the movie three decades ago.

In 1995, director Steven Brill's Heavyweights, which was co-written with Judd Apatow, premiered in movie theaters. Primarily consisting of younger actors, the series was set at a "fat camp" for children. Stiller starred in dual roles, playing Tony Perksi Jr., a fitness entrepreneur who takes over the camp whilst the kids work to overthrow him; Stiller also plays the character's father. Looking back at the movie upon reaching its 30th anniversary, Stiller shared a message on X acknowledging that the film would be seen as much more problematic today.

Judd Apatow and Ben Stiller are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Heavyweights, a Disney film released in 1995.

The comedy, directed by Steven Brill, who co-wrote it with Apatow, was released on February 17, 1995, which 2025 is 30 years since it premiered.

“Somehow I don’t think this will be at the head of the Disney+ queue ever,” Stiller posted on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter. “In fact I’m not sure they are aware they made it. But that was an incredibly fun summer in North Carolina 30 years ago.”

Heavyweights revolve around a weight loss camp for boys and the campers working to overthrow the fitness entrepreneur. In a lot of ways, the '90s was a true golden age for Disney. From absolutely monster animated hits like "The Lion King" to the true Christmas classic that is "The Muppet Christmas Carol," it was a rich time for the Mouse House. Yet, not everything can be a winner out of the gate. Such was the case with "Heavyweights." Released in 1995, the live-action comedy about kids at a fat camp whose summer is upended by a weight loss guru simply didn't connect with audiences in its day.

As has often been the case throughout Disney's history, animation has been the studio's bread and butter. That was no different in the '90s, as hits like "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" took center stage.

Although Doctor Odyssey is still only in its first season, the new series has garnered a reputation for featuring at least one big-name guest star per episode, and one of them will surprisingly return in a future episode. The ABC medical drama TV show created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, follows the medical professionals aboard the fictional luxury cruise ship The Odyssey. Almost every week, the cruise hosts new passengers (and new illnesses and ailments to deal with). Most of them are played by actors many will recognize in Doctor Odyssey.

Doctor Odyssey season 1 is set to return with episode 9 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 9 pm Et on ABC. Season 1 of Ryan Murphy's new series will reportedly have 18 episodes.

Though they shared the Broadway stage in a successful and Tony Award-winning 2016 musical revival, Benanti made it clear in a new podcast interview that she was never a fan of Levi, who at the time was a successful TV star from NBC’s Chuck and on his way to movie stardom as the title character in DC’s Shazam! “I never liked him,” Benanti told Eric Williams on his That’s a Gay Ass Podcast. “Everyone was like, ‘He’s so great!’ And I was like, ‘No, he’s not. There was so much to love about "Frasier." Leaving aside the fact that star Kelsey Grammer seemed born to play the fussy titular doctor, or that he was surrounded by one of the finest ensembles in TV history, "Frasier" also attracted a dazzling array of guest stars, many of whom we never actually got to see. That's because dozens of guests merely provided their voices to Frasier's call-in talk radio show. These were big name stars, too, with everyone from Helen Mirren to Billy Crystal contacting Frasier for life advice. It wasn't just actors, either. "Frasier" played host to Art Garfunkel, Stephen King, and tennis legend John McEnroe, making for what is surely one of the most impressive lists of guest stars for any TV show (and even rivaling "The Simpsons" for the sheer amount of celebrities that agreed to appear).

The modern-day Love Boat, which debuted on Thursday, stars Joshua Jackson as Max Bankman, the new onboard doctor of The Odyssey, a cruise ship helmed by Captain Massey (played by Miami Vice’s Don Johnson). Hallmark’s 2020 “Countdown to Christmas” has already begun, with a total of 40 new holiday movies set to air this season across the Hallmark Channel and sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries — some of which started rolling out well before Halloween.

While there are some fan-favorite Hallmark actors and actresses starring in the lineup, like Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Will Kemp, Holly Robinson Peete and Danica McKellar, there are several newcomers leading films, including Aaron Tveit, Krystal Joy Brown, Victoria Clark, Tom McGowan, Alvina August, Janel Parrish, Jeremy Jordan and Marisol Nichols, among many others.

This year’s slate also includes “The Christmas House,” which stars Jonathan Bennett and features a storyline about a gay couple looking to adopt their first child. Could Frasier be making a comeback? Deadline reports Kelsey Grammer and CBS TV Studios are discussing a possible revival of the NBC TV show.

A spinoff of Cheers, the sitcom starred Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane, a Seattle-based psychologist who begins living with his ex-cop father, Martin (John Mahoney). Our year of the month is 1970. Here's Tim Brayton...

From the standpoint of 1970, we find ourselves at the dawn of what is almost certainly the least-interesting decade in the history of American animation. Television screens were then dominated by the flat, cheap nonsense of Hanna-Barbera while Warner Bros. and MGM had abandoned their short film programs. Just about the only person trying to do anything with the medium was Ralph Bakshi, whose vulgar cartoons for adults were very often "fascinating," but almost never "good." The problem, in all likelihood, is that for 40 years, American animation had been primarily a matter of people reacting to the things Walt Disney had done; and in 1970, Walt Disney had been dead for four years.

This left his namesake studio in a state of full panic and confusion, looking to find any sort of project that felt like it might be "what Walt would have done.
