"The Worst That Could Happen" singer Johnny Maestro has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 70. The rocker and doo-wop vocalist passed away in Florida late on Wednesday, March 24. Maestro, real name John Mastrangelo, enjoyed a lengthy career that began as a singer with The Crests, one of the music industry's first interracial bands, in the 1950s.
They enjoyed a big hit in 1958 with "16 Candles" and he went on to form Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge after joining forces with local New York band The Del-Satins and another group, The Rhythm Method. Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge tasted big success with their single" The Worst That Could Happen", as well as other songs "Blessed is the Rain", "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Welcome Me Love".
