- In 1944 he played the leading male role in O Chicote do Zorro (1944), which featured the first female incarnation of the masked avenger. Thirteen years later he was cast in the defining version Zorro (1957) as Zorro/Diego's father, Don Alejandro de la Vega.
- Although he appeared in hundreds of films over his long career, he is best remembered as Guy Williams' stately father in the Walt Disney Zorro (1957) series.
