A native of Chicago, she attended the New School for Social Research Dramatic Workshop in New York.

Served on the boards of the Windsor Square-Hancock Park Historical Society and the Goethe Institute, and the White House Millennium Committee.

She was the executive director of the Fifth Street Studio Theatre in Los Angeles.

Had two children: Garret and Michael.
