Slender, genial, freckled, carrot-topped California theater actor who was a familiar face on TV and in films from the early 1970s on.

He made guest appearances on both of the longest running prime time dramas in US television history: Gunsmoke (1955) and Lei & Ordem (1990).

Typically playing troubled youths in his career, Darrell was still a student at UCLA when he made his acting debut as a young patient with a venereal disease on the Robert Young TV series drama series "Marcus Welby, M.D.".

Has a son Tavish (born May, 1977), the product of his first marriage; second wife Susanna Styron bore him a daughter Emma in August 1988.
