As of 2004, she had moved back to Minnesota and became very involved
with local theatre.

Met future acting mentor and friend Edward Asner on an episode of Mary Tyler Moore (1970), before she would co-star opposite him as Billie Newman on the spinoff series Lou Grant (1977), in which Asner played the title character.
