She has the dubious distinction of playing the first character to die in the popular detective series Inspector Morse (1987).

Was an avid mountain climber for many years, a passion she credited to the fact that her family originally came from the Welsh mountains. (her maternal grandparents were from Breconshire).

Graduated from RADA.

Current hobbies include gardening and hill walking near the Jones family home, an old lead miner's cottage in the Welsh mountains.

Daughter of actor Griffith Jones and older sister of actor Nicholas Jones.

She was named after Elisabeth Bergner's character in Contudo És Meu (1935), in which her father Griffith Jones appeared.

An Associate Member of RADA.

She played Victoria, Princess Royal in Fall of Eagles (1974) and her mother Queen Victoria in Bater ou Correr em Londres (2003).

Was in consideration for the part of Sarah/Anna in A Mulher do Tenente Francês (1981) but Meryl Streep, who went on to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance, was cast instead.

Appeared in the pilot episodes of two successful detective series: Inspector Morse (1987) and Wycliffe (1993) (episode listed separately as Wycliffe and the Cycle of Death (1993)).

Is a good friend of fellow RADA graduate Martin Jarvis.
