Biography

    • Heather Muriel Nguyen (they/them) is an asexual non-binary autistic Vietnamese-American actor and filmmaker who creates visceral stories that center queer and trans characters and artists of Color.

Their award-winning films are screening at queer and Asian-American film festivals, such as NewFest and CAAMFest, where femmes of Color all across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum have told Heather that they feel seen and their experiences represented fully for the first time in Heather's stories.

You can hear Heather as Tsurukoma in Netflix's The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House (2023) and see them acting opposite Jasmin Savoy Brown in Sound of Violence (Hulu, SXSW 2021) and Scott Turner Schofield in Willa Justice: Drag Queen Private Eye (2023).

Heather loves embodying fierce, lovable characters in films and shows with unapologetic creatives, most recently The Last Call Theatre's The Harvest (2023-2024) and Kanani Koster's Behind the Curtain (AFI).

Heather seeks to continue making films and series that empower queer and trans communities of Color with authentic depictions of their experiences. Heather's films are streaming at the OutMuseum, Film Shortage, and Retrospective of Jupiter.
