Image
A documentary centered on Miami quarterback Cam Ward is in production from Firebrand Media. The doc will be a part of a 10-episode series titled “Zero Star,” about thriving athletes who were once considered “zero star” recruits, meaning they were unranked and unscouted.

Ward, who was a high school athlete with only one college offer, is now the superstar Qb for University of Miami and a top candidate for this year’s Heisman Trophy.

“Being overlooked, in my shoes it was a blessing and a curse. The blessing part is that you have nothing to lose,” Ward says in “Zero Star.”

The docuseries will include 10 episodes, each one focusing on a different “zero star” athlete. Ward is the focus of the premiere episode, which will have a runtime of approximately 75-90 minutes, while the subsequent episodes in development will run between 45 and 50 minutes.

‘Superman’s Sara Sampaio Signs With UTA
Image
Exclusive: UTA has signed rising Portuguese actress Sara Sampaio (Superman) for representation, Deadline has learned.

Sampaio is best known for landing the coveted role of Eve Teschmacher in Superman, which is currently in production with James Gunn at the helm. The first title in a revamped DC slate, Superman follows the titular character, played by David Corenswet, as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Created by Richard Donner and Mario Puzo, and first appearing in Superman and Superman II, Sampaio’s character is portrayed in the comics as Lex Luthor’s assistant turned love interest and right hand. Produced by DC Studios and to be distributed by Warner Bros, the film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor,...

Al Pacino
Al Pacino, “Stranger Things” star Charlie Heaton and “Booksmart” actress Diana Silvers will all lead the cast of upcoming indie drama “Billy Knight,” which kicks off production this week in Los Angeles.

Alec Griffin Roth wrote the film and is making his directorial debut on the project, which is described as a love letter to Hollywood and cinema.

“Billy Knight” follows grad school students, Alex (Heaton) and Emily (Silvers), as they traverse their aspiring careers as filmmakers. Alex is simultaneously grappling with the grief of losing his father, a failed screenwriter. The only thing Alex’s father left him was a box of unfinished scripts and a handkerchief with the name “Billy Knight” embroidered on it. Consumed with the desire to discover his identity, Alex embarks on a magical Hollywood adventure to track down this mysterious and reclusive Billy Knight (Pacino) all while navigating the line between fiction and reality.
