- Born in Detroit, MI and raised in Charlotte, NC, Jaquay Lamar Thomas is an engaging, multicultural actor who channels an effortless, vivacious reflection of his worldly experiences. From touring as a singer, dancer, and performer across Africa, Antarctica, South America, Europe, and Scandinavia, to gracing US stages and screens, Jaquay's triple threat talent is one that's kept people filled with laughter and feeling all the feels throughout his career.
When Jaquay enters a room or a set, his bold laugh and million dollar smile leads, and the rest follows. Vibrant, quick-witted, charming, and vulnerable, this actor draws comparison to the likes of Billy Porter, Harold Perrineau, and Don Cheadle. With African roots from Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon, Jaquay openly represents the LGBTQ+ community as a black same gender loving male actor. He's also a proud graduate of University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Class of 1996) and Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts (B.F.A. Musical Theatre, Minor in Dance).
Jaquay has studied extensively with Kurt Koehler of The Actor's Prep (Los Angeles) and Diane Charles of Margie Haber Acting Studio (Los Angeles), in addition to private coaching with acting coach Colleen Basis (Kerry Washington, Austin Basis, Rachael Drummond). As a theatre performer he's been directed by 2x Tony Award Winner, Tonya Pinkins in "Easy To Fall in Love", and was a part of the Obie Award winning season of NYC's acclaimed "The Fire This Time Festival." In 2021, Jaquay starred in Colman Domingo's original one man show, A Boy and His Soul, at Kitchen Theatre Company, directed by Stephanie Weeks. His performance was commended for "precise physicality and vocal shifts make every person pop."- IMDb mini biography by: Christina Morelli
