Four years ago, we heard that Tea Shop Productions, the company behind 47 Meters Down, had hired Imitation Girl and Lucky director Natasha Kermani to write and direct a feature adaptation of Joe Hill‘s short story Abraham’s Boys. Two months ago, we finally got an update on the project when it was announced that Rlje Films and the Shudder streaming service had acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the film. They recently brought it to theatres, and JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy had the chance to talk to cast member Titus Welliver (Bosch) about the character he plays in the film – the legendary Abraham Van Helsing! You can find out what Welliver had to say about his approach to the character by watching the video embedded above.
Hill’s action-horror story is described as a “follow-up of sorts” to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The story tests the relationships Stoker formed in his original novel.

Today, Apple TV+ debuted the official trailer for the fourth season of the beloved, award-winning animated kids and family series Stillwater, which is set to premiere with five episodes on Friday, August 1, 2025.
Based on the bestselling Scholastic Zen book series by Jon J Muth, Stillwater follows a wise panda who teaches three young siblings about the world and each other.
The series centers on siblings Karl (Judah Mackey), Addy (Eva Ariel Binder), and Michael (Tucker Chandler), who encounter everyday challenges — big and small — which sometimes feel insurmountable. Fortunately for these three, they have Stillwater (James Sie), a wise panda, as their next-door neighbor.
Through his example, stories and gentle humor, Stillwater teaches the children the concept of mindfulness, while offering them a deeper understanding of their feelings as well as tools that help them face their own day-to-day challenges.

In the 128 years since Bram Stoker’s genre defining Dracula was published, we’ve seen Abraham Van Helsing depicted in a number of ways. From a scientific savior and eccentric kook to an action star staking vampires in 19th century finery, we know him as a knowledgeable champion and the malevolent Count’s greatest rival. It’s he who swoops in to save the undead Lucy Westenra from an eternity of stalking children through the night and he who becomes the galvanizing force that ultimately ends Dracula’s reign of terror.
But not everyone views this Dutch nobleman as an unwavering protagonist. Joe Hill’s 2005 short story “Abraham’s Boys” takes a different approach, positioning the scientific crusader as equally nefarious to his bloodsucking foe. Director Natasha Kermani expands this disturbing exposé in an unusual sequel to Stoker’s classic tale. Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story challenges our belief in...

Plenty of horror movies have shifted the focus from vampires to vampire hunters, imagining an underground network of stake-drivers combatting the elusive breed of bloodsuckers. Sometimes the two sides overlap, as in the “Blade” films. “Abraham’s Boys” has the gist of an original angle that goes straight to the primary source of modern vampire mythologies.
Here, the protagonist is Dutch undead expert Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, who’d been called to England to fight a supernatural nemesis in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula.” That polymath, famously played by everyone from Peter Cushing, Laurence Olivier and Anthony Hopkins to Willem Dafoe (in last year’s “Nosferatu”), is now a recluse in the New World, hiding out from spectral pursuers 18 years after he’d helped orchestrate the Count’s extinction.
The twist is that fear of reprisal has turned this learned man into a paranoid tyrant, holding his family hostage in joyless...

Dracula, Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, endures as a towering monument of gothic literature, its shadow stretching across centuries and cultures. With a mesmerizing blend of horror, sensuality, and dark romanticism, the Count has seduced generations of readers and filmmakers alike, from F.W. Murnau's silent nightmare Nosferatu (1922) to Bela Lugosi's haunting gaze in Dracula (1931).
Christopher Lee starred in Hammer's Dracula movies, his sanguine presence on full display in ten films, cementing the Count's cinematic immortality. Later, Francis Ford Coppola's opulent 1992 adaptation draped the tale in velvet and tragedy. More recently, Robert Eggers breathed eerie life into the legend with a new Nosferatu. Each adaptation reflects each era's fears and fascinations, but the Count's hypnotic pull remains undiminished.
However, not all Dracula adaptations are kissed by moonlight, and in fact, there is a new movie coming out that is drawing the ire of critics.

Since first being dreamt up in Dracula, Bram Stoker’s iconic piece of dark gothic fiction, Abraham Van Helsing has been reimagined and adapted almost as many times as the undead killer at the center of the tale. Movies like Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Patrick Lussier’s Dracula 2000 have brought the monster slayer to live-action form, as he shows up to be the savior of those caught under the hypnotic demon’s spell. But when Joe Hill set out to write his short story, Abraham’s Boys, he wanted to paint the heroic character in a different light. Instead of the brave and selfless Van Helsing that audiences have seen in the past, Hill’s main character would depict the culmination of trauma from hunting things that go bump in the night all while trying to keep his family safe — or at least his definition of “safe.

Have you ever wandered the post-apocalyptic wasteland with a nuclear bomb in your pocket? I sure have. And although it may not seem like the “Fallout” games have much to do with writer/director Natasha Kermani’s “Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story” — adapted from the horror tale by Joe Hill (“The Black Phone”) — the film evokes a feeling that’s familiar to many gamers. It’s the one where you hang onto your best weapon the whole time, waiting for the right moment to use it, only to reach the end and realize it’s too late. You wasted every chance.
“Abraham’s Boys” has many secret weapons. The film’s stars, Titus Welliver (“Bosch”) and Jocelin Donahue (“The Last Stop in Yuma County”) are two of the best in the game. They play Abraham and Mina Van Helsing, characters from the pages of “Dracula” who married after the death of Mina’s husband.

Titus Welliver Teases His Next Supernatural Horror Role After Shock 'Bosch' Cancellation [Exclusive]
Titus Welliver is trading cold cases for cold-blooded monsters. With Bosch: Legacy wrapped and the Ballard spin-off about to begin, Welliver is stepping into very different territory in Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story, a haunting new reimagining of Van Helsing lore from director Natasha Kermani. The film, based on Joe Hill’s short story, premieres July 11 — and if you’re expecting a campy vampire romp, think again.
“Well, I didn’t read the story until I read the script, Natasha’s adaptation, first, which I was kind of blown away by,” Welliver told Collider. “That was not a hard decision to make. I felt like the characters were all really incredibly well realized and compelling. And then I read the short story by Joe Hill, and they mesh really perfectly.”

We’ve been confused about the Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) reunion from the start. He was obviously in love with Sally (Courtney Hope), and she… well, had Billy (Jason Thompson) at her beck and call, and Chelsea likes that trait in a man.
Sure, there was their mutual love for Connor (Judah Mackey), but then why work together, too? What was Chelsea thinking? We wondered. Now we finally know!

Sharon sure had a lot of questions for Lily on the July 1 episode of The Young and the Restless, didn’t she? And the majority of them were about Cane.
We realize she’s part of the Aristotle Dumas drama, but she really just tagged along with Nick. She doesn’t have a horse in the race. Dumas/Cane isn’t targeting her company. So why was Sharon so curious? We think we know!

Sharon (Sharon Case) inherited her company from Cameron (Linden Ashby). She never had any interest in competing with the two behemoths in town, Newman Enterprises and Jabot.
But now that there’s a new player on the scene, maybe Sharon thinks Cane (Billy Flynn) could be her partner in really becoming a power broker. Billy (Jason Thompson) has the same idea.

This one really flew under the radar, but an adaptation of Joe Hill's Abraham's Boys is on the way from Shudder and Rlje Films, and the first trailer and poster have now been released online.
Based on Hill's short story from his 20th Century Ghosts anthology, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story (they were always going to get big D's name in the title) finds Abraham Van Helsing (Titus Welliver) living a secluded life far away from the horrors of his legendary vampire slaying past alongside his wife and sons.

Chelsea confused much of Genoa City on the June 11 episode of The Young and the Restless. Nikki wondered why she is so eager to protect Billy. Adam wondered why she is so eager to protect Billy. And, soon, Victor will wonder why she is so eager to protect Billy. But we think we know.
Back To the Future
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Mark Grossman) are back together. Again. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) compared them to herself and Victor (Eric Braeden).
Hey, hey, hey there. Chelsea and Adam are very toxic. But they’re not That toxic. Yet. Give them time. The comparison was apt enough to make Chelsea realize that she and Adam still have a bit of breaking up to do.
More: What happens next on Y&r.

Abraham’s Boys is a continuation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, originally written as a short story by Joe Hill, author of NOS4A2 and The Black Phone. Directed by Natasha Kermani, this film adaptation is a suspenseful trek into the story of a father, his sons, and his dark legacy.
The story follows Abraham Van Helsing, played by Titus Welliver, and his family years after the events of Dracula. In their new home, Abraham and his now wife, Mina (Jocelin Donahue), raise their two sons, Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey). The family seems typical of the time, patriarchal, religious, tight-knit, but also emotionally cold and distant. When their haunting past creeps back into their lives, the Van Helsings’ secrets come to the surface.
This film is a quiet, slow-burning exploration of the complexity of familial ties, history, and purpose. Max goes through his own hero’s journey by...

Earlier this year we reported that Shudder had acquired the rights to Abraham's Boys, a new vampire horror movie based on the short story by Joe Hill. Directed by Natasha Kermani, we now have our first trailer for the horror flick, which stars Bosch favorite Titus Welliver as the famed vampire hunter, Abraham Van Helsing.
Set to hit theaters on July 11, Abraham's Boys takes place years after the events in Dracula, and the new trailer (seen below) gives us a taste of what Van Helsing has been up to since. Now a husband and the father of two boys, Max and Rudy (Brady Hepner and Judah Mackey), we see the family living a quiet life in the rural countryside until an old enemy comes back to seduce his wife (Jocelin Donahue). As things progress, Van Helsing tries to teach his sons about the family business, and share secrets from his dark past.

A new vampire horror movie is on the way, and it’s based on a short story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King. The movie is called Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story, and it comes from Hill’s 2004 story “Abraham’s Boys,” which was part of his 20th Century Ghosts collection.
The movie takes a darker look at the Van Helsing family, showing what happens after the famous vampire hunter’s fight with Dracula. This isn’t your usual vampire movie. Instead of just hunting monsters, this one focuses on Van Helsing as a father, and the kind of damage that can come from the life he’s lived.
His two sons, Max and Rudy, grow up under his strict and paranoid parenting, not knowing what he’s gone through.

Shudder has unveiled the official trailer for Abraham’s Boys, a new horror film based on the excellent short story by Joe Hill, one of my favorite horror authors. Set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, this one promises to offer a bold new take on the Dracula mythos through the eyes of Van Helsing’s traumatized children. Should be wild.
Directed by Dread alumni Natasha Kermani, Abraham’s Boys stars Titus Welliver as Abraham Van Helsing, a man haunted by his past encounters with the Prince of Darkness. "Now is a time to rid the world of a demon." Rlje Films and Shudder have revealed the official trailer for an indie horror-thriller creation called Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story, with that subtitle added on after the original debut title of just Abraham's Boys. This premiered a few months ago at the 2025 Overlook Film Festival and will be out to watch in limited theaters this July - and then streaming on Shudder later in the year. Following the events of Dracula, Abraham van Helsing moves his two sons, Max and Rudy, to the US in an attempt to escape their past. Based on the spine-tingling short story by Joe Hill. Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story, directed by Natasha Kermani, re-imagines vampire lore through the eyes of Van Helsing's sons as they unravel their father’s haunted legacy, blending classic gothic vampire horror with a modern exploration of generational trauma.

Titus Welliver is trading Harry Bosch’s badge for a crucifix and a stake. In the newly released trailer for Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story, the Bosch and Bosch: Legacy star takes on the legendary role of Abraham Van Helsing — but this time, the monsters aren't only in the dark. They're in the family. Directed by V/H/S/85filmmaker Natasha Kermani and based on Joe Hill’s 2009 short story, Abraham’s Boys reimagines Dracula lore through a modern lens of generational trauma, because life isn't tough enough without vampires. The film is set in 1915 and follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing (Judah Mackey and Brady Hepner), two brothers raised under the strict, paranoid rule of their father Abraham. As his behavior grows increasingly erratic, they begin to uncover the violent truth behind his past — and the horrifying legacy they were never meant to inherit.
The trailer blends gothic imagery with an eerie domestic unease.

They’re planning to bring it to theatres (under the title Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story) on July 11th, and with that date right around the corner, a trailer has dropped online. You can watch it in the embed above.
The Abraham in question here is vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing as Hill’s action-horror story is described as a “follow-up of sorts” to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The story tests the relationships Stoker formed in his original novel.

Lately, things have been peaceful between Nick and Adam on The Young and the Restless. However, their brotherly truce might soon be broken. And a certain lady — or ladies — will be at the center of the latest Nick and Adam feud.
Chadam and Shick Partner Swap
Adam (Mark Grossman) finally has happiness in his life. He and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) have reunited, and settled into their new home at the ranch with Connor (Judah Mackey).
Meanwhile, Nick (Joshua Morrow) is still single, but spending time with his ex-wife Sharon (Sharon Case). Although Nick put the kibosh on a reunion, his actions state otherwise.
However, a new twist could have the Newman brothers involved in a love quadrangle with Sharon and Chelsea.

Victor and Nikki are all about family on The Young and the Restless. But when it comes to their grandchildren, Claire is the center of their world. It’s time for the grandparents to be reunited with their other grandkids.
Newman Family Reunion
Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) have nine grandchildren. After Summer’s (Allison Lanier) recent departure, Claire (Hayley Erin) and Connor (Judah Mackey) are the only grandkids currently on the show. It’s been a while since the other Newman grandchildren were seen, so why not have them return to Genoa City.
The eldest Newman grandson, Noah (Rory Gibson) has a new life in London where he’s running a nightclub. Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) recently visited him, but Noah’s long overdue for a trip to Genoa City. Noah’s visit, even if its brief would put him back in ex-girlfriend Audra’s (Zuleyka Silver) orbit.

This week’s messiest move belongs to Adam and Chelsea on The Young and the Restless. They thought it was a good idea to work together, so Chelsea left her position with Marchetti to work with Adam at Newman Media. But they should reconsider this idea.

All it took was a romantic dinner and some encouragement from their respective exes, Billy (Jason Thompson) and Sally (Courtney Hope). The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease that the Real Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) might make a comeback, so it’s worth discussing the reasons her conniving tendencies could resurface.
Fans of Y&r remember that Chelsea hasn’t always been the model citizen of Genoa City she appears to be now.
Chelsea’s Shady Past As A Con Could Come Calling Again
Chelsea has a troubled history marked by numerous scams and low points during her plotting days. Recently, she has faced significant challenges, including a suicide attempt and supporting Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) with his Ocd. It’s understandable that we now see a more refined and mature side of Chelsea given her journey.
However, it’s hard to overlook that this new iteration of Chelsea lacks excitement! If the narrative continues to portray her as a ‘good girl,’ she’ll likely become a frustrating nuisance...

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, May 2, prove that Victor never, ever learns. He yelled, screamed, and pouted at Michael for not being as bad as Victor needed him to be, and now it was Adam’s turn to receive the same treatment.
Next on The Young and the Restless
Victor (Eric Braeden) thinks he’s the most wonderful, brilliant, sexy person who ever lived. Everybody should want to be just like him. He’s confused for a minute when they refuse, and then he starts foaming at the mouth. How dare people not want to be like him? Who do they think they are, wanting to be themselves? Even if they are still putting Victor first. That’s not nearly enough! You got that?
Michael (Christian Le Blanc) will come around eventually. What choice does he have? In the meantime, Adam (Mark Grossman) has been allowed to think for himself long enough.

On the April 30 episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea wasn’t sure if she wanted to leave Marchetti to go work with Adam, while Sally wasn’t sure if she wanted to leave Marchetti to go work with Billy. Here’s why this pair should switch partners — and dance!
Everything is Fine
When Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) first reunited, we wondered what the point was — and where the drama would be? And when Sally (Courtney Hope) and Billy (Jason Thompson) got together, we shrugged and said Ok, well, that might as well happen.
It seems now that Y&r expects the excitement to come from these two ill-matched couples working together, and workplace wackiness ensuing. Nothing more exciting than watching hot, messy, sexy people looking over balance sheets. We have a better idea.

The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, April 30 sees Cole’s health worsen, Chelsea contemplates a major career pivot, and Billy tries to turn business into pleasure.

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, April 25, 2025, are here! In tomorrow’s episode, fans can expect Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) to get suspicious of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Meanwhile, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) drops a truth bomb on Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters). Keep reading and let’s talk about what is coming up in the next episode of the CBS soap opera.
Chelsea Lawson Suspects
Let’s begin with Chelsea, who will become suspicious of Adam’s motives. It’s not clear what kind of situation this is. It could have to do with Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) upcoming business launch, which is connected to Aristotle Dumas.
Chelsea has witnessed Billy and Adam facing off before. At one point, Adam even accused Billy of using the company to just target him. Of course, Billy denied it, but maybe Adam has put a plan in motion anyway.

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, April 25, put Audra and Adam on the spot, as Lily and Chelsea give them the third degree.
Next on The Young and the Restless
Lily (Christel Khalil) distrusts everyone these days. And we don’t blame her. After being involved with Cane (Daniel Goddard)…and Billy (Jason Thompson)…and Daniel…(and after Victor [Eric Braeden] used her like a worthless puppet while exploiting her love for her late father)…she has a good reason to assume everyone is always lying, especially to her. And that’s not just men. That’s women, too.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) went along with Victor’s plot, which is why Lily cross-examines Audra (Zuleyka Silver). And she won’t be charmed by her the same way Nate (Sean Dominic) is.

On the April 21 episode of The Young and the Restless, Nikki urged Claire not to listen to Victor’s opinions about Kyle, Victoria urged Claire to listen to Victor’s opinions of Kyle, and Claire gushed that all she wants is to be with Kyle and to be happy and she needs a very, very clever plan. A very, very clever plan worthy of a Newman.
Nikki wanted Claire to let Victor know what it feels like not to get his way every time. Victoria wanted Claire to stand up to Victor, too. Just, you know, in a chiller way. But, in the end, Claire wasn’t raised by Nikki and Victoria. She was raised by Jordan. So she needs a Jordan-level crazy plan.

The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates reveal there are three Newmans in need of some exciting changes to their storylines, so let’s explore new directions for these key characters.
The CBS soap has the opportunity to revitalize the Newman family by steering these individuals onto unique paths.
Number One-Victoria Newman
To begin with, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) could benefit from a change; while it’s been refreshing to see her nurturing side, her sharpness is becoming a distant memory.
Currently, Victoria is preoccupied with being a devoted mother, which leaves her with limited storyline opportunities, and frankly, she’s become a bit boring! .
It would be exciting to witness her engage in more than just shielding Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) and dispensing maternal wisdom.
A simple solution would be for Victoria to become involved in Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) scheme of romantic sabotage, which could reignite her character’s spark.

There are two sides to every story. Take Abraham Van Helsing’s legacy. Bram Stoker’s Dracula positions Van Helsing as a vampire-hunting savior who vanquishes the bloodsucking count—but what if that’s propaganda? Natasha Kermani’s adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story “Abraham’s Boys” portrays a different side of Van Helsing. The line between hero and monster is wafer-thin, which Kermani explores in a 1900s period piece that takes an iconic horror figure to task.
Titus Welliver stars as Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, who has relocated his family to a secluded plot of land in California’s Central Valley. We evaluate Abraham from his eldest son Max’s (Brady Hepner) perspective: an overprotective husband to his ill wife Mina (Jocelin Donahue) and a stern parent to his littlest Rudy (Judah Mackey). Mina’s affliction is related to vampirism, and Abraham lives in constant fear that creatures will storm their household,...

Though there have been countless Dracula movies in the past, as well as a ton of films that deal with Van Helsing, there's been nothing quite like director Natasha Kermani's Abraham's Boys, which has just been picked up for release by Rlje Films and Shudder. Based on the short story by Joe Hill, who also penned The Black Phone and NOS4A2, the new horror flick premieres this weekend at the Overlook Film Festival in New Orleans, and it's already generating a lot of buzz because of its unique premise.
Per Bloody Disgusting, Rlje and Shudder have acquired distribution rights to Abraham's Boys, which serves as a sequel to Bram Stoker's Dracula. The story was first published in the 2004 anthology The Many Faces of Van Helsing before it was reprinted in Hill's short story collection that was released in 2005, 20th Century Ghosts.
