The Prime Video police procedural series Ballard got off to a hot start, and one of the stars has indicated this suggests hopeful news for Ballard season 2. Ballard, a spinoff of the Bosch franchise, premiered on July 9, 2025, and the series has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, though it left some story threads open-ended.

Fortunately, one of the stars of the series has hinted that season 2 may be a reality, and then we should get an answer to some of those burning questions from Ballard season 1. ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns interviewed Courtney Taylor, who plays Zamira Parker, a former LAPD officer who joins Ballard's (Maggie Q) Cold Case Unit.

Taylor discussed with Hermanns and ScreenRant her thoughts about Ballard's high Rt score and its pole position on Amazon Prime viewing charts (via FlixPatrol). Taylor said,

"I think they're just excited. I think everybody's just really excited about it still being No.

Bosch fans were worried about what they would watch now that the Titus Welliver-led series has ended, but Ballard has very quickly become a go-to replacement series on Prime Video. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Q responded to the question of whether she had any sense of where the series was headed with, "I have no sense." Q explained, "This industry is not what it was before. It’s barely recognizable to me, and shows are so expendable. They can throw out a show in two seconds, and it doesn’t make a ton of difference that whole worlds and livelihoods are at stake."

"Studios always have options. But we have a writers room, and they've been writing away," Q continued. "The arc for the second season is very exciting. But I've had writers room hired before and then gotten canceled. So everyone's like, 'Maggie, of course!' I'm like, 'No, no, no.' There is no 'of course.' I am not a negative person at all.

After the end of Bosch: Legacy, franchise vet Madison Lintz has landed her next big TV role.

Per Variety, Lintz is set to star in Eve Ronin, a television adaptation of Lee Goldberg's series of crime novels. She is also on board as an executive producer for the project, which doesn't yet have a network attached. No other cast members have yet been revealed. Detective shows have been all the rage on streaming in recent years. The plot is pretty much the same—a detective is tasked with investigating cold cases with limited resources, and as we know by now, the team usually consists of a ragtag bunch of misfits. In its third and final season, viewers were introduced to Detective Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, in the last episode, which served as a minorintroduction to Bosch: Legacy's spin-off, Ballard. However, it will not be nostalgic, according to the leading actress.

During an interview with Collider, Maggie Q revealed that although the series is connected to Bosch, because it is a spin-off, it won't lean on familiarity.

"We're not looking to rehash the same things.

The fact of the matter is, kicking butt as TV’s Nikita kicked Maggie Q’s butt — and more than a bit.

Even so, that four-season initiation-by-fire wound up preparing the actress to headline Ballard, Prime Video’s Bosch: Legacy offshoot premiering Wednesday, July 9 (with all 10 episodes).
