Image
Lahore, Jan 23 (Ians) Former Pakistan batter Haroon Rashid on Monday has been appointed as the new chair of the men’s National Selection Committee. The Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) added that other members of the panel led by Rashid will be announced in due course.

Rashid played 23 Tests and 12 ODIs from 1977 to 1983 and last held this position in 2015-16. Most recently, he was the Convener of the Interim Selection Committee after having previously served in administrative and coaching roles with the age group and national sides.

“I am honoured to have been entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to working very closely with the team management and the National High-Performance Centre so that we have clear pathways and can work collectively to select the best available players for what will be a busy and high-profile year of cricket, including the Acc Asia Cup, Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup...

By Qaiser Mohammad Ali

New Delhi, March 29 (Ians) Seventeen years ago this day, swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag provided millions of his fans plenty to rejoice as he hammered India's first ever triple Test century in Multan -- and went on to score another triple and missed a third one by a whisker.

Playing only in his 21st Test match, Sehwag, then aged 25 years and 160 days, achieved the feat on the second day of the first Test of the series against Pakistan. He ended the first day of the match at 228 not out and soon after lunch interval on the second day, he stepped out to off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and lifted him over the long on boundary for a six to complete the triple in fabulous style.

India went on to win the Test by an innings and 52 runs, after Sehwag had laid the foundation with his almost nine-hour innings. India...

Compare Azam to Pakistan greats, not Kohli: Razzaq
Image
Lahore, March 10 (Ians) Pakistan captain Babar Azam should be compared to a former batsman from the same country instead of his India counterpart Virat Kohli, said former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. Razzaq said that Pakistan "has more talent" and if Indians are not comparing players from their country to those in Pakistan, the latter shouldn't reciprocate.

"Firstly, we should not say such a thing (compare Virat Kohli with Babar Azam). You can't compare Indian players with Pakistan players because Pakistan has more talent. If you look at our history, we have so many great players who we can draw comparisons with like Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas and Ijaz Ahmed," Razzaq said during an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

"Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are completely different players. If we want to compare the two, then it's important to hold matches between Pakistan and India and then judge who is a better player,...

Sohail Khan
Lahore, Oct 18 (Ians) The Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) has been left "disturbed and disappointed" after 12 persons, including nine players and three officials of the ongoing National T20 Cup in Rawalpindi, breached the bio-secure protocols in place for the Covid-19 pandemic.

Though the Pcb did not disclose the identity of the cricketers and officials who breached the protocols, Pakistani newspaper 'Dawn' said that the guilty included senior players like Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Fakhar Zaman, Yasir Shah, Khurram Manzoor, Sohail Khan, Anwar Ali, Imam-ul-Haq plus officials Abdul Razzaq, Basit Ali and Rashid Khan. The individuals had spent time outside the bubble area within the vicinity of the team hotel on Friday.

Issuing a warning, the Pcb has stated that those breaching the bio-secure protocols in future will be sent packing from the tournament.

"The Pcb is disturbed and disappointed that some senior players and officials have breached the bio-secure...
