Chicago Cubs starter Cody Poteet knew exactly what pitch he wanted to uncork to Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Max Muncy: a fastball down and away.

But as the ball left his hand — in the first inning of the first game of spring training Feb. 20 in Arizona — it drifted toward the inside corner, off target. Poteet’s catcher, Reese McGuire, had to reach back across his body to get it. Due to the slight location misfire, McGuire couldn’t present the ball the way he wanted, and the umpire made his decision.

When the players walk up to home plate for their turns at bat, each player on the home team will having music blasting in their honor. They all picked the songs themselves.

We have the full list of songs that you’ll hear for every player on the Dodgers. Since the Dodgers are the home team for games 1 and 2, you’ll hear music for those players, but not the Yankees.

Tommy Edman and Will Smith homered to send Shohei Ohtani into the World Series for the first time, and the Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the New York Mets with a 10-5 victory in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday night.

The Dodgers clinched their record 25th Nl pennant and first at home since 1988, when they beat the Mets in seven games. They moved on to their 22nd World Series — 13th in Los Angeles — and first since 2020, when they beat Tampa Bay during the pandemic-delayed season.

Next up for Ohtani and Co. is Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees, who are back in the World Series for the 41st time and first in 15 years. Game 1 is Friday at Dodger Stadium, pitting Judge (58) and Ohtani (54) — MLB’s top home-run hitters this season. The game will be broadcast live on Fox.

Stars Join Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation To Raise Over 1.1 Million for LA Regional Food Bank

Last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (Ladf) partnered with RWQuarantunes to raise funds to provide 3.3 Million meals to the most vulnerable Angelenos impacted by Covid-19.

The star-studded virtual event, which streamed live from Dodger Stadium to more than 2,000 viewers, raised over $1.1 Million to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the foundation’s efforts to feed the hungry in Los Angeles.

The celebration featured appearances by the 2020 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, Dodger legends, and current players including Trevor Bauer, Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, Joe Kelly, Max Muncy, David Price, Will Smith, Steve Garvey, Fernando Valenzuela, Andre Ethier, and many more current and former teammates.

Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants Join Yankees And Nationals Salute To Black Lives Matter Movement On Opening Day

Update: The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants joined an earlier demonstration by their major league brothers honoring Black Lives Matter in a pregame ceremony.

As at the earlier Yankees/Nationals game, opening day at Dodger Stadium saw the playing of a video from The Players Alliance, a group of African American players, calling for racial justice.

The Dodgers coaching staff and the entire San Francisco Giants squad wore T-shirts with “Black Lives Matter” written on it during the pre-game warmups. Both teams took a knee and held a black ribbon encircling the field during a moment of silence following The Players Alliance video.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, Dodgers Foundation, and iHeartMedia Los Angeles announced today that they will be providing critical donations to support local Covid-19 relief efforts that will aim to uplift significantly impacted Angelenos, including our most vulnerable populations and those on the front lines of this crisis.

Relief efforts will address those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, difficulty with basic needs and provide support for health care workers.

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (Ladf) hosted its 5th Anniversary Blue Diamond Gala, a star-studded evening that featured an exhilarating performance by world-renowned musician Bruno Mars.

Equality trailblazers Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss were honored during the event, which raised over $3 Million and was attended by over 2,000 guests.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group presented the 2019 Blue Diamond Gala. The group includes Chairman Mark Walter, Earvin Magic Johnson, Todd Boehly, Robert “Bobby” Patton, Jr., Peter Guber, Billie Jean King, and Ilana Kloss.

The evening also included a welcome from Emmy-nominated actor, Anthony Anderson, introduction of the 2019 Los Angeles Dodgers, highlight of youth impacted by Ladf’s programs, and SportsNetLA hosts Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser, who helped bring awareness to Ladf’s important work. World Series Game 3 TV Ratings Stumble To Low, But Fox Deportes, Fox Digital Up
Updated With Final Numbers: The 18-inning drama between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night goosed the World Series ratings on two Fox platforms.

While television scored 13,251,000 fans for prime time – down 4% from Game 2 – Fox Deportes and Fox Sports Digital celebrated increases.

Fox Deportes achieved its most-watched Game 3 in network history with 462,000 viewers, while Fox Sports Digital scored an average minute streaming audience of 176,000, up 36% over 2017’s 129,000 viewers.

Previously, 7:30: Clocking in at a stunning seven hours and 20 minutes with 18 innings, Game 3 of the 2018 World Series made history last night as the longest fall classic ever.
