Though born in northern Illinois and living his early years around the Midwestern United States, Gerg's family relocated to Athens, Georgia when he was about 8. He began training in gymnastics at the age of 4, specializing in tumbling. He later turned to the sport of competitive cheerleading as an outlet, competing at the national level in Coed All-Star Cheerleading. At 17, Gerg began coaching gymnastics and cheerleading of all ages and levels, a career he would continue for over 20 years. He studied graphic design in college but was able to work as a stuntman/actor on occasion. The majority of his movie industry work has been through designing movie posters and other print media for small productions.
