Carlos Watson and his supporters are asserting that President Donald Trump has commuted the nearly 10-year prison sentence that he received after being convicted of extensive fraud in operating his digital media startup Ozy Media.
In a lengthy statement, Watson thanked Trump and reiterated that he had been targeted for prosecution by competitors.
“I am profoundly grateful to President Trump for correcting this grave injustice. His decision reflects his unwavering commitment to fairness and justice for those who have been wrongfully targeted. The prosecution of Ozy and me was driven by a malicious campaign orchestrated by a jealous competitor at a rival media company,” Watson said in a statement issued Friday.

Kim Kardashian is known for breaking the internet with her sexy snaps, but in April 2019, she did so by announcing that she was studying to become a lawyer. At the time, the 42-year-old mogul had already been advocating for criminal justice reform - she notably played a huge role in the release of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time nonviolent drug offense - so for Kardashian, this was a natural next step. "I had to think long and hard about this," Kardashian previously told Vogue. "I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more."

Kim Kardashian admitted her first visit to the White House in 2018 was a daunting experience.
The reality TV star, who has been studying to become a lawyer, spoke candidly about feeling unprepared as she visited on behalf of Alice Marie Johnson.
With the help of Kardashian and then-president Donald Trump, Johnson was released from prison after receiving a life sentence in 1996 over nonviolent drug charges.
In a new interview with the “Angie Martinez Irl” podcast, Kardashian recalled, “I hated how I felt when I went into the White House for the first time and I didn’t know half of anything that they were saying – like all of the clemency talk, and all the attorney lingo and everything that they were talking about.
“I literally was sitting there, like texting my attorney that was next to me.”

Both President Trump and Democratic candidate Michael Bloomberg purchased valuable Super Bowl air time for their presidential campaigns, and both ads featured an African American woman speaking about each politician.
Trump’s ad capitalizes on Alice Marie Johnson’s release from prison where she had served 21 years for attempted possession of cocaine and conspiracy to possess cocaine. Despite these being non-violent offenses and Johnson’s first conviction, she was serving a life sentence until Kim Kardashian personally lobbied the president for Johnson’s release during a 2018 meeting in the Oval Office.

On Jan. 18, the 39-year-old aspiring lawyer dropped the two-minute clip, which shows her efforts to promote prison reform. Alice Marie Johnson, the inmate whose life sentence was commuted in part through the efforts of Kim Kardashian West, has set a movie and TV pact with Endeavor Content and One Community.
The deal will stem from Johnson’s memoir, “After Life: My Journey From Incarceration to Freedom.” Harper Collins will publish the book on May 21, which will include a foreword by Kardashian West.
