Paramount Global has announced the 12 cast members as well as the producing team for the 2023 CBS Showcase. A premiere screening event will be held in Hollywood on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Additional virtual screenings will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 18 and Thursday, Jan. 19 at 1 Pm, Pt, 4 Pm, Pt and 7 Pm, Pt.

The trailer for Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” hints at developing romances, pride events and at least one mother trying to pry into her child’s new relationship.

The show is a reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies it follows “a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.” The tragedy is also heavily hinted at in the trailer.

“Like most queer ‘90s kids, I had a unique relationship with the original ‘Queer as Folk,'” Stephen Dunn, creator, executive producer, writer and director of the Peacock version, previously said in a statement. “Growing up, I was desperate for any sort of connection with people like me. It was the first time I really felt seen. The show offered a new paradigm – one where we could accept and celebrate queer love, families, and communities on a global stage.

Stephen Dunn’s “re-imagining” of the groundbreaking British series “Queer as Folk” will premiere on Thursday, June 9, Peacock announced on Wednesday, along with a release of first-look photos and detailed descriptions of the cast and guest stars.

The new series explores a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Dunn, who serves as creator, executive producer, writer, and director, described how much the original British series from Russell T. The Critics Choice Association has announced the winners of the 2nd annual Critics Choice Super Awards, which honors the greatest achievements in genre storytelling across television and film.

“It’s an honor to showcase these incredible accomplishments in Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Comic Book films and television. The Super Awards will proudly continue to shine a brighter light on the talented people telling stories in these fields,” Critics Choice Super Awards branch president Sean O’Connell said in a statement.

The cast of Peacock’s Queer as Folk reboot continues to grow! Lukas Gage, Megan Stalter, Olli Haaskivi, and Calvin Seabrooks have joined the show’s ever-growing lineup of guest stars, including Kim Cattrall, Juliette Lewis, and Ed Begley Jr. The new series is described as “a vibrant reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies, exploring a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.” Haaskivi & Seabrooks (Sela Shiloni/Peacock; Dustin Giallanza/Peacock) Gage will play personal trainer Eric, and Stalter (Hacks) is aspiring singer Meg. Haaskivi (Winning Time) will play one of the characters’ mall friends, George, while Seabrooks is a reluctant dinner party guest named Taylor. Peacock’s reimagining of the seminal LGBTQ+ series “Queer as Folk” is expanding its cast.

Lukas Gage, most recently of HBO’s “White Lotus,” Megan Stalter (“Hacks”), Olli Haaskivi and Calvin Seabrooks have joined as guest stars, Peacock announced Thursday.

Here’s what we know about their characters:

Gage is playing Eric, a personal trainer. Stalter plays aspiring singer Meg. Haaskivi plays George, a friend from the mall. Seabrooks plays a reluctant dinner party guest named Taylor.

The new “Queer as Folk” comes from creator and executive producer Stephen Dunn, EP Jaclyn Moore, and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. It’s based on the British show created by Russell T. Davies.

While the original series was set in Manchester, U.K., the new version is set in New Orleans. It follows a group of friends whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.

“Showcase,” an annual variety comedy show spotlighting up-and-coming performers, has served as a launching pad for the careers of numerous stars, such as Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”), Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip”), Ego Nwodim (“Saturday Night Live”), Nico Santos (“Superstore”), Drew Tarver (“The Other Two”) and Nicole Byer (“Nailed It!”). The second season of Tinder’s original series “Swipe Night” has named its lead cast, writer and director.

On the heels of the successful first digital narrative experience — where Tinder users choose outcomes that impact the plot — comes the new installment, “Swipe Night: Killer Weekend,” a Gen-z ensemble murder mystery.

Grindr Sets First Original Scripted Series ‘Bridesman’

The popular LGBTQ “dating” app Grindr is entering the original scripted content space with Bridesman which is set to begin production this month and air in Fall 2021.

Created by John Onieal, Bridesman is a comedy series follows a gay bridesman as he undermines his best friend’s wedding. Each episode will be 6 to 10 minutes and will be available on YouTube as the Grindr app.

Directed by Julian Buchan, the show will feature comedians Jimmy Fowlie, Sydnee Washington (Comedy Central’s Up Next Showcase) and Shannon Devido. The series will include guest appearances by Liva Pierce, Calvin Seabrooks, Benito Skinner, and Kim Petras.
