Katerina Kova
- Actress
Katerina Kova was born above the Arctic Circle in Vorkuta, Russia. She spent her early years immersed in the arts, studying gymnastics, dance, piano, fine art, poetry, literature, English, and Karate in Saint Petersburg, before immigrating with her family to Toronto, Canada in 1998. When asked what she wanted to be at the age of 4, Katerina already knew, and boldly stated "an actress and an artist". Katerina is of Russian, Ukrainian, and Mongolian descent.
In Toronto, Katerina continued her artistic studies, with a strong focus on competitive piano. She went on to win many competitions, including placing 1st at the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival. Katerina was also enrolled into competitive dance at Vlad's Dance Company, where she learned ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop, competing for over 10 years across Canada and the US, frequently taking home Golds and Ultimate Golds at the American Dance Awards. Ever the ambitious child, Katerina begged her parents to also enroll her into competitive Tae-Kwon-Do, where she went on to earn a first degree Black Belt. In her teenage years, Katerina began her formal fine art training, studying classical painting, drawing, and sculpting, which led to her pursuit of a 4-year Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Mount Allison University, Canada's top undergraduate university. After graduating with distinction, Katerina could no longer deny her childhood dream of becoming an actress.
With passion and determination, she began studying On-Camera Acting at Armstrong Acting Studios, Alza Acting Studios, and LB Acting Studios in Toronto. After only 5 months of training, Katerina landed her first lead role in Mommy, a horror short film, which was nominated for a People's Choice Award at the Sheridan Screen Arts Awards (2018). In 2019, A Rather Sordid End won the People's Choice Award at the Sheridan Screen Arts Awards. That same year, Enchanted Mafia: Dark City was nominated for Best Web Series at the Alternative Film Festival. Katerina was also cast as Ayone (A1) in the groundbreaking interactive motion-capture film One Of Us (2019), which was filmed using motion capture and advanced 3D technologies at Pinewood Studios in Toronto, but was sadly never completed/released due to its complexity. In 2020, The Desolate Frostbite was selected as a part of The Lift-Off Sessions Online Showcase. In 2021, Katerina starred as Ana Kravinoff in the highly-rated Spider-Man: Rise of a Legacy (Remastered Edition), acting completely in Russian. That same year, she went on to lead as Katrina in a hilarious episode of Heavy Metal Hitchhiker, which was produced by Emmy award-winning Banger Films.
In 2025, Katerina landed the role of Sophia opposite acting legend Jennifer Dale in Unrepentant: Iconic Women Of History. Other upcoming 2025 projects include films Nicky Nine Doors, Blood Debts, and Option, as well as TV series Whitmore. Additionally, Katerina is a co-host of a brand new talk show called The Scoop Georgian Bay which launched in March of 2025. She is also co-writing a thrilling horror feature film, which she will be starring in and executive producing.
As an ever-evolving creative, Katerina continues to be deeply involved with Women In Film And Television Toronto (WIFT+) having sat on the jury of WIFT's Showcases in 2024 and 2025, while also completing the Pitch 101 Workshop, WIFT Connect Mentorship, and Leadership Development Series.
