Rukmini Vasanth Venugopal (known professionally as Rukmini Vasanth) is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Kannada cinema. She was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, into a Kannada-speaking family. Her father, Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, was Karnataka's first recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime military decoration, and lost his life in 2007 while serving in the Indian Army. Her mother, Subhashini Vasanth, is a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and established a foundation to support war widows in Karnataka, fostering a strong sense of service and community in Rukmini's upbringing. Rukmini completed her schooling at Army School, Air Force School, and Centre for Learning in Bangalore before earning an acting degree from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, where she refined her craft.
Rukmini began her acting career with a lead role in the Kannada film Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni in 2019, quickly gaining attention for her talent. She achieved widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Priya in the two-part romantic drama Sapta Saagaradaache Ello - Side A and Side B, performances that earned her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress - Kannada in 2023.
