Biography

Nakia Nelson is an Actress with experience in Theater, Film, and Voiceover. Her interest in acting began in 1988 when she was cast in a theater production, The Spoof of Cinderella. Nakia was cast as the Fairy Godmother and given complete autonomy by the director to create the character. Nakia decided to make the character loud, and zany with a heavy Southern accent. The overwhelming response from the audience each time she was onstage made her fall in love with the craft of acting! Nakia continued to study acting off and on for years thereafter. Nakia also had a love for the study of human behavior and helping others. She went on to earn a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Howard University. Despite family and friends encouraging her to pursue a more practical career path, her love for acting never went away. She continues to act today with the same passion and zest she had when she played the fairy godmother. Nakia is also a Clinical Therapist specializing in trauma, licensed in 3 states, as well as a mental health wellness advocate.
