Tuomas Nikkinen is a Helsinki-based, award-winning film and TV composer. He also orchestrates and arranges for films and pop/rock recordings.
His latest score is for Jossakin on maa (2022). He recently finished composing the family comedy Les Hullabaloo! (2022), premiering in fall 2022.
His musical score for Any Day Now (2020) won the award for the best film score at Beijing International Film Festival (China) and Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux (France), in 2021.
He has composed additional music for the biggest budgeted film to date in Finland, Opération Delta (2021), and for the Hollywood action comedy The Misfits (2021).
Nikkinen was born in in 1978 in Tampere, Finland. He started playing the violin at the age of 7, and studied music theory and music history at the Tampere Music Academy. Later he took alto saxophone as his main instrument.
Tuomas studied music and orchestration in Sibelius Academy, University of Helsinki, and Berklee College of Music. He is a visiting lecturer of Sibelius Academy, on topics of film music and music technology.
Tuomas is fluent in different musical genres, from minimal electronic to grand orchestral.
He founded the music production company Helsinki Sound Factory in 2015.
