First Arabic-language musical film ‘Sukkar’ to be released in Middle East cinemas

Mbc Group produced the feature, which will be released by Empire Entertainment.

Arabic-language musical Sukkar is being readied for a theatrical release across the Middle East and North Africa, marking the first such feature in the region.

The film is produced by leading Mena company Mbc Group, with a story inspired by epistolary novel Daddy-Long-Legs by US writer Jean Webster. Mbc has labelled Sukkar the first-ever Arabic-language musical of its kind.

Mystical book series The Madigan Chronicles is to be turned into a TV series by UK indie Particle6 Productions. Particle6 has acquired the rights to Marieke Lexmond’s six-book series, which includes the likes of The Dagger, The Magical Tarot Deck and The Wand. The books tell the story of three generations of headstrong witches and their struggle to work together to keep a centuries-old promise and stop a dark witch from claiming a powerful elemental object. Apeksha Porwal starts shooting for 'Slave Market 2'

Mumbai, March 15 (Ians) Actress Apeksha Porwal, who rose to fame with her debut series ‘Undekhi’ and was also seen in ‘Badhaai Do’ and season one of the international English-Arabic show ‘Slave Market’, has now started shooting for the second season of the show in Abu Dhabi.

‘Slave Market’ is a period drama set in the early 20th century when slavery was practiced in different parts of the world in a very organised manner.

Directed by Lassad Queslati, the series consists of five stories titled British line, Arab line, African line, and Indian line. All the stories deal with a common subject of slavery and its prevalence during that period.

Shahid Launches ‘Period Market’ Landmark With Global Cast

Middle Eastern streamer Shahid has launched Period Market, a landmark period drama featuring a global cast from across Emea, filmed in more than 100 locations .The show, which comes from Kuwaiti writer Heba Mashari Hamada and Tunisian director Lassaad Oueslat, tells five stories taking place simultaneously in different parts of the world that differ in detail but intersect as each protagonist falls into slavery. The multi-national cast includes Fayez Bin Jurays, Apeksha Porwal, Al Anoud Saud and Janique Charles. Shahid owner Mbc said Period Market was filmed across more than 100 locations with 70 main cast members and more than 17,000 extras. It is another demonstration of the region’s dedication to major TV landmarks. Saudi Arabia now has a tax break in place and is working on other big-budget offerings such as fantasy series Rise of the Witches.
