Married at First Sight has a success rate of under 20%, with none of the season 17 couples staying together. Some successful marriages have emerged from the show, like Jamie and Doug from season 1, but many couples end in divorce. The mismatched couples, like Becca and Austin, sometimes create manufactured drama for the show, impacting their relationships.
Across its 17 seasons, Married at First Sight has mismatched a number of couples. The experimental reality television show is renowned for its format that brings pairs of strangers together as they get married during their first meeting. Its an out-of-the-box format with a success rate of under 20%. None of the Married at First Sight season 17 couples stayed together by the time the show wrapped, and the season was tainted because of this. The experiment has worked in the past and creates dramatic moments nonetheless, making it one of the best reality TV shows right now.

Married At First Sight season 16 offered an inside look at five Nashville couples who chose to get married without ever meeting their partners before, and the reunion for the season was a bit lackluster. Mafs has followed couples who choose to get coupled up by relationship experts for years, watching the drama unfold as their relationships are put to the test. Though the show has a fairly low success rate, Mafs has been a success for Lifetime throughout its years on the air, and some of the couples have ultimately chosen to stay together. With success stories like Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner, the process can work.
The Mafs season 16 couples were all from Nashville, Tennessee, and chose to be matched up in their home city. Married At First Sight typically travels around the country, choosing different cities for each new season, and the Nashville couples were a wild ride.

The Married at First Sight season 16 finale aired in the summer of 2023, taking over one of the most social cities in the United States: Nashville, Tennessee, and the cast members have Instagram accounts. Ten new cast members were ready to listen to the show's team of experts and marry the person they think is best for them. The show followed five couples as they experienced the ups and downs of a brand-new marriage.
As the shocking Mafs season 16 concluded and left everyone hanging until after the reunion episodes, there are clues to glean from the cast members' Instagram pages. While only one couple from Mafs season 16 remained together in the finale episode, anything can happen between filming and reunion episodes. The Mafs season 16 cast members can easily be found on Instagram.

Married at First Sight season 16 cast member Domynique Kloss was one of the younger wives matched in the franchise at age 25, and she wasn't ready to be married. Although the experts expressed some reservations about matching her because of her age, they ultimately decided that she and husband Mackinley Gilbert would be a good fit for each other, despite a hefty age gap. However, Domynique’s immaturity caused problems in her marriage right away.
Early on, it was revealed that Domynique was signed up for Married at First Sight season 16 by her mother. If the large age gap in her marriage wasn’t enough of a red flag, not having signed up for the process on her own was not a great sign. As Domynique and Mack's honeymoon progressed, the fundamental differences between the couples became apparent, and Domynique’s immaturity began to reveal itself as they struggled to deal with their conflicts.

Over the course of 16 Married at First Sight seasons, experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Pastor Cal Roberson have been constants, and fans are ready for a refresh. With a handful of other experts appearing in past seasons, Dr. Pepper and Pastor Cal’s consistency has made the show stale, rather than stable. As the dynamic of the series changes, and the reality TV world becomes more saturated, Mafs fans are ready for new faces on the program.
As the show got more popular, Married at First Sight cast members became more aware of the series, and of the experts and their counseling techniques. Married at First Sight seasons 14 and 15 saw cast members call out the experts for their mishandling of situations. Fans took notice, mirroring the cast members’ dissatisfaction. Viewers have taken to the Internet to call for a whole new set of experts going forward.

Married at First Sight season 16 is well underway, with the Nashville couples returning from their honeymoons in paradise to take on the challenges of the real world, but, along the way, several cast members displayed glaring red flags. With a lot of familiar dynamics occurring in this season of the show, the red flag behavior is even easier to spot. Previews from later in the season confirm that a certain disaster awaits at least one of the Nashville pairings.
Throughout the seasons, Married at First Sight has had some very obviously toxic cast members. Married at First Sight season 16 couple Mackinley Gilbert and Domynique Kloss were matched by the experts with the best of intentions, but their bickering has already caused sympathy and outrage in fans. At age 25, Domynique is nearly 10 years younger than Mack. The pair’s similar commitment to their careers should allow their maturity levels to meet in the middle, but their different life paths brought tension into their marriage.
Both Domynique and Mack from Married at First Sight season 16 struggled to communicate with each other, leaving concerns unresolved and letting conflicts grow. They may have been a good match on paper, but in reality, their connection was nonexistent. Both of them had valid concerns with each other, leaving fans torn between having sympathy for Mack and siding with Domynique’s criticisms of him.

Some Married at First Sight fans think that Domynique Kloss's mother signed her up for the show, and they're wondering what prompted the parent to do that. When it comes to Mafs, mothers and fathers are often doubters. Reality TV weddings aren't really how most people imagine their children getting married. Domynique's mom may feel like she had a very good reason to send in her daughter's Mafs application.
So far, the show is off to a decent start. However, as usual, there have been some uncomfortable moments, where Married at First Sight season 16 duos didn't really align. Gina Mitcheletti and Clint Webb aren't so sure about each other. However, in some cases, there is that special blend of hope and curiosity among the Nashville couples. When it comes to Domynique and her new husband Mackinley Gilbert's marriage, they are doing better than certain pairs from the installment.

Domynique Kloss and Mackinley Gilbert's relationship hasn't hit any bumps on Married At First Sight season 16 just yet, but it's clear that Mackinley's sense of humor is starting to grind his wife's gears. There have been some seriously mismatched couples throughout Mafs history and based on their differences, Domynique and Mackinley were expected to be from the start. While described as an old soul, Domynique, 25, was chosen for Mafs after her mother applied on her behalf, while Mackinley, 34, only recently moved to Nashville and didn't have his own place.
Despite several signs that Married At First Sight's Dr. Pepper Schwartz incorrectly matched Domynique and Mackinley, they had a relatively smooth wedding, even though their respective mothers weren't sure what to think of their union. When the duo traveled to their honeymoon destination in Jamaica alongside the other Mafs season 16 couples, they appeared to be physically compatible, unlike Gina Micheletti and Clint Webb.

Kirsten Grimes and Shaquille Dillion are still getting to know one another on Married At First Sight season 16, but while Kirsten has made her expectations clear, she doesn't seem to realize how contradictory they are. Before Kirsten and Shaquille even met on their wedding day, Kirsten, 32, made her wants and standards obvious. Like the other stars of Mafs season 16, Kirsten is not only ready to settle down and have children but is ready to connect with someone who is passionate about their career, family, and religion. Luckily for Kirsten, Shaquille, 31, signed up for Mafs with the same parameters in mind.
Interestingly, while Kirsten and Shaquille's arranged marriage by Married At First Sight's Dr. Pepper Schwartz makes sense in theory, the newlyweds have struggled to find the spark in their relationship. Gina Micheletti and Clint Webb ended their honeymoon with a blow up on Married At First Sight season 16, but while Clint said something he shouldn't have, Gina wasn't an innocent participant. When Gina, 36, and Clint, 40, met at the altar, they initially appeared to hit it off. Despite the awkwardness that comes with an arranged marriage, Gina and Clint shared a kiss, enjoyed their reception, and even discovered they lived in the same Nashville apartment building.
On Married At First Sight season 16, Gina's workaholic personality and Clint's carefree persona were expected to balance each other out when they were matched by expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz. However, it didn't take long for contention to develop on their honeymoon. Gina Micheletti and Clint Webb were specifically chosen to tie the knot for Married At First Sight season 16, but while other duos were clearly matched based on compatibility, Gina and Clint seemed to have been deliberately put together to induce drama. Gina and Clint were selected to participate in Mafs season 16 alongside four other Nashville-based couples: Kirsten Grimes and Shaquille Dillon, Jasmine Secrest and Airris Williams, Nicole Lilienthal, and Christopher Thielk, and Domynique Kloss and Mackinley Gilbert. Like their co-stars, Gina and Clint have distinct personalities and clear ambitions but have yet to find the right partner to settle down with.

Married At First Sight has featured several problematic, troubled, or downright controversial participants over the years, and while some people have been wolves in sheep's clothes, Airris Williams from Mafs season 16 is a clear red flag. Airris and his bride Jasmine Secrest tied the knot when the series returned in January alongside four other Nashville-based couples: Nicole Lilienthal and Christopher Thielk, Gina Micheletti and Clint Webb, and Domynique Kloss and Mackinley Gilbert. While Lifetime's newest batch of participants is vastly different, they do share one big similarity: the inability to naturally find a partner to settle down with.

The Married At First Sight season 16 couples have tied the knot and are ready to develop their relationships with a nice honeymoon, which means it's time to reveal where the newlyweds traveled to unwind. While the weddings featured on Mafs are beautiful but on the small side, Lifetime's behind-the-scenes crew know how to impress their cast and viewers at home with extravagant honeymoon locations. From Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, each season's chosen tropical destination doesn't only provide the perfect opportunity to have some fun, but to also turn the dial on the romance setting.

Dr. Pepper Schwartz has arranged dozens of blind marriages over the years on Married At First Sight, but the relationship expert's personal life isn't as privy to the cameras as the participants of Lifetime's social experiment. Naturally, while the idea may sound good in theory, it's only a matter of time until the couples of each Married At First Sight season find themselves in some serious conflict; however, a few matches like Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner continue to stand the test of time in 2023.

Married at First Sight season 16 has just started, but based on the season's trailer, fans think that Domynique Kloss and Mackinley Gilbert will be the first pair to split up. Over 50 couples have been blindly matched since Mafs season 1 premiered back in 2014, but the series has quite a poor track record, as only a few duos remain together in 2023. While the couples have intense eight-week journeys on Mafs, some relationships thrive on the series. However, other romances quickly end, before they've really started.

Married at First Sight season 16 features five couples, and while some of Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Pastor Calvin Roberson's matches make sense in theory, Mackinley Gilbert should not have been paired with Domynique Kloss. Although dozens of blind marriages have been arranged since 2014, only a handful of duos remain happily together as of 2023. Whether one cast member doesn't find their partner attractive, or two individuals are simply incompatible in person, it's more common for Mafs couples to separate on Decision Day than it is for them to stay married.
