    • Desiree Kahikopo-Meiffret is an award-winning Namibian producer and director with over 15 years of experience in film and theatre. Her dynamic career has encompassed roles as a performer, actress, creative director, and playwright. In 2014, she wrote, produced, and directed the acclaimed stage play A Lifetime of Blues, which won Best Set Design at the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards.

      She has worked extensively on numerous film sets, including serving as Line Producer on Fish Out of Water by renowned Namibian filmmaker Vickson Hangula. Her directorial debut, The White Line, received widespread international recognition, screening at various global film festivals. The film earned multiple accolades, including Best Newcomer Director and Best Film Script at the 2019 Namibian Theatre and Film Awards, as well as the Audience Choice Award. Internationally, it won Best Cinematographer and Best Feature Film at the 7th African Emerging Filmmakers Awards in Durban, received a Special Jury Mention for Direction at the 9th Luxor African Film Festival in Egypt, and took home the Kilimanjaro Award for Best Feature Film at the Africlap Film Festival in Toulouse, France.

      The White Line made history as the first Namibian film to be submitted for both the Oscars and the Golden Globes, and was officially in consideration for the 94th Academy Awards in the General Category (Best Picture). Desiree was also nominated for Best First Feature Film by a Director at the 2020 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
