Csaba Mera
Csaba's mother was a well-known actress in his native Hungary and served as an inspiration for his lifelong support and passion for the performing arts, theater and film. Csaba studied screenwriting in California with Terry Black and Shane Black. He studied filmmaking at the NW Film Center in Portland, Oregon. He has written a number of screenplays, including The Corvin Battalion about the teenage freedom fighters of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution; City Kids, inner city teenager caring for his younger sibling after parents abandoned them, promoted by Michael Spielberg, until the producers sad, untimely death. Not surprisingly, Csaba's cinematic passion is driven by social issues and a dedication to a highly professional, engaging and compelling way to present the message. As Board President of Third Rail Repertory Theatre, he led a small ambitious startup theater troupe to be one of the top-rated theater companies in the Pacific Northwest, and was very excited to return to Portland to film "Here Awhile."
