MASUMI is a Japanese-American artist making waves across film, television, and video game worlds. Born in Los Angeles and raised between Tokyo and the U.S., she is bilingual in English and Japanese, bringing a unique cultural depth to every role.
Her career began in music, performing original songs in cafes and later touring internationally. This raw vulnerability formed the foundation of her powerful on-screen presence.
MASUMI's breakout came with Yakuza Princess, a Warner Brothers action-thriller where she starred opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Tsuyoshi Ihara. Performing her own stunts and martial arts, the film quickly landed in Netflix's Top 10, marking her arrival as a rising talent.
She continued to build momentum with a Guest Star role on NCIS: Hawai'i (CBS) and a recurring Guest Star role in a highly anticipated Apple TV+ sci-fi series, premiering in late 2025. MASUMI also stars opposite Jaime King in The Weight of the Darkness, set for release in late 2025.
A defining moment in her career came in 2025 with Assassin's Creed Shadows, where MASUMI plays Naoe, the franchise's first Japanese female protagonist. Her performance has been widely praised for its emotional depth, bringing Naoe to life in ways that have resonated deeply with players. The game has been a global success, cementing MASUMI's status as a rising star in both gaming and entertainment.
In recognition of her influence, MASUMI was invited to present at the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards in London.
With every project, she expands what's possible for Japanese and Japanese-American voices on screen and in culture-shaping the future of storytelling one fearless performance at a time.
