Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 Is Holding Nothing Back—And It’s Paying Off
Image
Shangri-La Frontier may be a power fantasy isekai anime, but unlike some other popular series this season, it doesn’t sideline its side characters. Sunraku (Rakuro Hizutome) may be eager to take on every monster himself, but he remains a loyal friend to his clanmates. Wolfgang consists of skilled players who support each other both in-game and in real life. Though Sunraku, Oikatzo (Kei Uomi), and Arthur Pencilgon (Towa Amane) only officially formed a clan after defeating Wethermon, their friendship runs much deeper. So, when Oikatzo needs help for a real-life gaming tournament, it’s no surprise that he turns to them.

Wolfgang is an ambitious group, but they haven’t had many opportunities to work together yet. Since Shangri-La Frontier follows Sunraku’s perspective, the audience only knows what he does. During the Wethermon fight, he trusted Pencilgon and Oikatzo completely — despite having no idea what they were doing...

Brad Pitt's Painfully Ironic Troy Injury Is Still Hard to Believe
Image
For over 30 years, Hollywood leading man Brad Pitt has been dazzling audiences all across the world with his engaging and eclectic performances, starring in a slew of unforgettable hits like Seven, Fight Club, Inglourious Basterds, and World War Z (among countless others). There is no project or character that has proven too intimidating for the seasoned star, and in 2004, he further ventured out and tackled the historical war genre when he appeared as Achilles in the Iliad-inspired epic Troy.

Pitt appeared alongside a large ensemble cast, including Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger, in the blockbuster hit, yet much like the great Greek warrior he portrayed in the film, the Academy Award-winning actor faced his own unique set of trials and tribulations. During production of the engrossing epic, Pitt ironically suffered a painful injury to his Achilles tendon that set filming back several weeks. Yet, the unfortunate hiccup did not hinder the final product,...

‘WWE Nxt’ Review (Aug 27th 2024)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…

Match #1: The Fatal Influence def. Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Fallon Henley & Jacy Jayne’s reign of terror in Nxt continues as they defeated The Meta-Four’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson in tag team action. Legend and Jackson were in full control, but Henley showed incredible perseverance by continuing to battle after suffering an injury, earning respect from the Nxt Universe. The numbers game doomed Meta-Four as Jazmyn Nyx’s distraction allowed Jayne and Henley to regain control as they hit a Shining Wizard/Running Knee Strike combo to win the match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Karmen Petrovic def. Izzi Dame The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth Wvh Unveil New Song “I’m Alright”: Stream
Image
Wolfgang Van Halen‘s Mammoth Wvh have shared the video for “I’m Alright,” the latest single from the upcoming Mammoth II full-length, out Friday (August 4th).

The five-minute track is a propulsive hard rocker highlighted by a strong vocal performance from Wolfgang. He shows off his soulful side here, extending notes and hitting some impressive melodic vibratos. And as we’ve come to expect from Wolfgang and his band, there’s plenty of surging guitars and stadium-ready chords.

“’I’m Alright’ is the single that is coinciding with the album release,” explained Wolfgang in a press release. “I think it’s really funny that the lyrics are quite angry but delivered through the lens of sort of a comfy rock song. If there ever was an anthem for myself about standing up for what I believe I should be doing — as opposed to what people expect — this is certainly that song.

12 Movies Removed From Disney Plus After Pledge To Purge Streaming Content
Image
Following Disney's confirmation that some movies and TV shows would be leaving Disney+, the streaming platform has removed 12 movies from its catalog. Disney announced in mid-May that 40 shows would be removed from Disney+ and Hulu, including some popular Disney+ original series like Willow. The decision to remove streaming content appears to be a cost-cutting measure by Disney, as well as a response to internal changes to their content creation strategy.

Now, Decider reports that 12 films have left Disney+ in the midst of Disney's content purge. Included are some star-studded movies, including the Bryan Cranston-led family film The One and Only Ivan. All the films removed are Disney+ originals, meaning it will be difficult to find them elsewhere, if at all. Check out the list of removed content below:

Westworld (2016)
Disney Removes Various Titles from Disney+ and Hulu, Including Willow, Big Shot, & Dollface
Westworld (2016)
Disney is going there, you guys.

As previously teased during the company's quarter one earnings call, the company is purging several titles from its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu.

The practice has become common in recent months, with HBO Max leading the charge, wiping several projects from existence.

Undoubtedly, fans and creatives are struggling with the concept, but maybe some of the affected shows could show up elsewhere.

"We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms and currently expect to take an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 to $1.8 billion," Disney's chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, said during the earnings call.

Westworld, The Nevers, and other HBO fare popped back up on Fast services shortly after the controversial decision.

But for some shows, this could be the death knell that could be the difference whether new fans find them down the line.

Initially, people purchased physical media, and with the rise of streaming,...

R.L. Stine Horror Series “Just Beyond” Is Being Deleted from Disney+ This Month
Image
For Halloween 2021, Disney+ entered the world of R.L. Stine with “Just Beyond,” an 8-episode anthology series based on Stine’s line of comic books. The series never got a second season, with Disney+ leaving its fate hanging in the balance these past two years.

Unfortunately, we’ve learned this week that Stine’s “Just Beyond” will be one of many Disney+ original projects that are soon being deleted from the streaming service entirely.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, “Disney is following Warner Bros. Discovery and removing under-performing titles from its streaming services in a bid to write off nearly $2 billion from its bottom line. In all, there are more than 30 shows that will be removed starting next week from the platforms in this first round of reductions. The titles will vanish starting May 26.”

The long list of titles being removed from Disney+ includes…

Review: The Munsters
Image
Starting in fall 1964, children across America could watch CBS’ The Munsters but come January 1966, they seemingly all flipped the dial to ABC and Batman. The superhero series’ smash ratings cast a death spell on the humorous take on the classic monsters, with the exaggerated look as perfected by Universal’s horror films of the 1930s. Fred Gwynne was a delight as Herman Munster, paired nicely with Yvonne DeCarlo and Al Lewis. The sitcom transferred traditional family drama tropes to the residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane and for 70 episodes, it was tremendous fun, revived for wildly successful syndication.

Ever since, there have been revivals in feature films, animated series, and failed attempts at series revivals. Now, here comes director Rob Zombie with his take on the classic characters, largely retaining the look of the original series, but in garish color.

The film, now available both on Netflix and disc from Universal Home Entertainment,...
