Film Review: “His Father’s Voice” (2019) by Kaarthikeyan Kirubhakaran

Every country has its own source of legends and tales which has defined its culture. While for example the Nibelungen have left their mark on German culture and history, its characters have inspired writers ranging from J.R.R. Tolkien to George R.R. Martin. Similarly, the influence of Homer, beyond his home country of Greece, is undeniable, extending far beyond geographical and generational borders.

At the core of “His Father’s Voice”, the directorial debut of producer and writer Kaarthikeyan Kirubhakaran, lies the Sanskrit epic of Ramayana, one of the oldest texts of Indian literature. His Father’s Voice Opening in Limited Release April 19th
Kaavadi Productions and Indie Rights are pleased to announce the theatrical world premiere and Digital HD rollout of Kaarthikeyan Kirubhakaran’s musical drama His Father’s Voice. Kaarthikeyan and producer Shankar Kiru have assembled some of the finest new talent from around the world for his feature directorial debut, including Jeremy Roske, Julia Koch, Sudharma Vaithiyanathan, P T Narendran, Ashwini Pratap Pawar, and Christopher Gurusamy. His Father’s Voice will open in Los Angeles for a weeklong run at the Arena Cinelounge on April 19, before the film premieres on Cable and Digital VOD in the coming weeks.

Of the film’s impending release, Kaarthikeyan said, “I feel the joy of fulfilment, of having made a film that we can be proud of. A film that we never grow tired of watching, again and again. It is a joy that we are looking forward to share, with the rest of the world.
