Rex Depalma is an award-winning writer and director from the gritty streets of East Boston, born to a young mother from a good family and a father entrenched in organized crime. His father was imprisoned most of his life and it's what led to his storytelling being deeply personal, his voice was shaped by his tumultuous upbringing and the highly detailed letters his father would send him from prison, reading these since he was a boy. These letters became his first real lessons in writing, teaching him how to craft vivid, raw narratives that come alive off the page.
Starting his career directing music videos and branded content, Rex transitioned into narrative filmmaking with his powerful debut short God Don't Love Ugly, which gained festival acclaim for its raw emotion and unflinching storytelling. His follow-up, Palm Angels, further solidified his reputation as a bold, uncompromising voice in independent cinema.
Rex's current project, will be his debut feature. Titled "PRESSED", it is a deeply personal exploration of the fentanyl crisis. Having lost friends and family to the drug, Rex is determined to raise awareness through his work. His films delve into humanity's darker side with brutal honesty, creating culturally significant stories that challenge and move audiences.
Collaborating with renowned like minded artists, Rex combines gritty realism with emotional depth, aiming to tell stories that leave a lasting impact.
