Dominic John Davis, born Dominic John Suchyta, in Detroit, Michigan on November 30th, 1975. His mother, Rena Xuereb, was a first generation American, having immigrated to the United States from Malta with her mother and 8 older siblings when she was only 3 years old. His father, Joseph Suchtya, was of Polish decent and grew up in Detroit. Dominic is the 4th of 5 children, having two older brothers, Joe & Christopher, an older sister, Maria, and a half sister 15 years younger, Ana Victoria.

After his parents divorce, Dominic was raised mostly by his mother. When he was age 8-11, his mother was employed at Old Tigers Stadium on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Thrumball St. in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. Dominic would spend time at his mother's place of work, cultivating a lifelong love of baseball and the Detroit Tigers.

When Dominic was 10 years old, he met a 10 year old Jack White (then John Gillis) at Holy Redeemer Catholic School where they both attended 5th grade. They would become close friends and spend time together in boy scouts, playing sandlot ball and riding bikes around Detroit to record stores and music stores. When they were 12 years old, they started their first band together called "The Fuck-Ups". Jack played drums and Dominic played the electric guitar his mother had given him for Christmas. One fateful day, Jack's older brother, Eddie, put a bass in Dominic's hands and told him which notes to play for the song they were working on. From that moment on Dominic was a bass player.

Dominic attended the famed Cass Technical Public High School in Midtown Detroit whose notable alumni include Diana Ross, Ron Carter, Della Reese, David Allen Grier, Big Sean and Jack White, among others.

He graduated with the class of '93 and went to Michigan State University in Lansing, MI, where he studied art history and visual arts. It was during his time at Michigan State when Dominic met multi-instrumentalists Andy Wilson, Andy's twin brother, Joe, who was also a multi-instrumentalist, and guitarist, songwriter and singer Joshua Davis (The Voice Season 8 runner-up). They would form an iconic string band called "Steppin' In It" that would go on the make an indelible impact on the Michigan music scene, recording and touring for the next 20 years and solidifying themselves a Michigan musical institution.

In the fall of 2009, Dominic wed fellow Michigan musician, Rachael Davis at a friend's farm in northern Michigan. In a grand gesture of love and honor Dominic took his new wife's last name, thus becoming the Dominic John Davis we know today.

In 2012, Dominic was called upon by his old friend, Jack White, to join his newly-launched solo-career band for recording and touring. Dominic, of course, couldn't refuse the offer to play music, once again, with his long-time friend.

Dominic has appeared on Jack's albums Blunderbuss(2012), Lazaretto(2014), Boarding House Reach(2018) and Fear of the Dawn(2022) and has appeared on stage with him professionally, around the world, for over a decade on some of the world's biggest stages, including a Grammy performance in 2013 and multiple appearances on NBC's Saturday Night Live.

Dominic has also lent his skills to other musicians on the road and in the studio such as, Buddy Miller, Aubrey Sellers, The War & Treaty, Colin Linden, The North Mississippi All Stars and many more. At times when he's not on the road, lending his solid bottom end to a myriad of familiar musical acts, he and his wife, Rachael Davis, tour together as an Americana roots music duo.

Dominic is also a notable producer, having producing credits for acts such as Greensky Bluegrass, Luke Winslow King and Willy Nelson, to name a few.

Dominic is known throughout the music industry for his profound accomplishments as a bassist, producer and has been accused of being one of the greatest living rock bass players alive.

He resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, Rachael, and their two children Virgil Ryman (15) & Lela Mae (7).
