Turkish screenwriter and film director. After his graduation from Bogaziçi University, Cagil Bocut completed his MA studies on Film Production at London Kingston University. Afterwards he finished his PhD on Cinema & Television at Marmara University in 2019. Cagil established the Digital Film & Animation department at SAE Institute Istanbul, where he would continue his career as Head Instructor between 2010-2013. In 2021 he wrote and directed his first debut Geranium. The film was supported by German-Turkish Co-Development Fund, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Turkish Ministry of Culture.
Beside his doctoral studies, for over a decade, he has served as a director in advertising, cinema, TV series, and documentary projects. His films have been shown in more than 20 countries, winning prestigious awards both nationally and internationally. He has contributed to nearly 200 documentaries. In 2025, he provided creative consultancy and post-production supervision for the "Golden Opulence: 500 Years of Luxury in Anatolia" documentary, starring Victoria Beckham, Olivier Rousteing, Pier Paolo Piccioli, Alfonso Dolce, Brunello Cucinelli, and Erdem Moralioglu.
