More than three years after Obi-Wan Kenobi debuted on Disney+, a new rumor suggests the Jedi Master’s journey may not be over just yet.
According to a recent report from industry insider Daniel Richtman, Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor could return as Obi-Wan in a potential second season. No additional details were provided with no production timeline, casting confirmations, and no official green light from Lucasfilm has been announced.
Originally developed as a limited series, Obi-Wan Kenobi was marketed as "The Complete Series" upon its physical release. The show premiered in May 2022 to strong viewership and fan engagement.
Set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the show followed Obi-Wan living in exile on Tatooine as he quietly watched over a young Luke Skywalker. When young Princess Leia is kidnapped, Obi-Wan is forced out of hiding, triggering a confrontation with his former apprentice, Darth Vader, in...

Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally conceived as a movie and would have fallen under the "A Star Wars Story" banner. Solo's poor box office performance ended that possibility, and with Disney eager to bolster its streaming offerings, it became a six-part TV series.
Despite some divisive ideas and characters, the show was a hit and was praised for filling in the gaps between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Lucasfilm even found a way to give fans an Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader rematch, leading to that now-iconic scene where we caught a glimpse of what remains of Anakin Skywalker beneath the Sith Lord's helmet.
With a decade to go until Ben's demise on the Death Star, Star Wars fans are optimistic that a second season could happen, potentially exploring the Jedi Master's rivalry with Maul by expanding what we saw in Star Wars Rebels.

As the kickstarter to James Gunn’s revamped Dcu, Superman, nears its release date, the talks surrounding David Corenswet are inevitably growing louder. If anything, pretty much everyone is in the crosshairs about whether his breakout role in the movie could have him reach commendable heights of stardom or turn out to be a critical disaster.
Looking at his transformation for this role and how he truly seems to be trying to live up to the legacy of the superhero, Corenswet’s rendition could be truly epic. But while the talk is around the magnitude of his talents, fans might as well be reminded of the Natalie Portman-led 75% rated gem that he gave a stellar performance in: Lady in the Lake.

Anthony Ramos was offered starring roles in Hollywood right off the bat after he proved his acting chops in his Broadway debut, Hamilton. He played Usnavi de la Vega in both the theater and movie versions of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. He had appeared in several memorable roles in big-budget films, including A Star Is Born, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Twisters.
After playing the good guy in his movies and TV shows, Ramos is embracing villainhood in the new Disney+ series from Marvel Studios, Ironheart. In the show, he plays Parker Robbins/The Hood, who hires Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams for a series of heists. Somehow, it's been eight long years since we last locked in for a new white-knuckle movie from action auteur Kathryn Bigelow. And we'll be honest, cinema just ain't quite the same without the director behind The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, Point Break, and more giving us palpitations. And that's where A House Of Dynamite, Bigelow's new — and now officially named — Netflix bound movie, comes in. Set for theatrical release this autumn ahead of a 24 October streaming premiere, Bigelow's big-screen comeback is a tense-sounding political thriller starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, and Netflix has just declassified a whole bunch of exciting details on the who's who and what's what of the film.

Kathryn Bigelow’s new film is officially called A House Of Dynamite, and we’ll be seeing it this October. More on it here.
Kathryn Bigelow’s next film feels like it’s been a long time coming. After what seemed a long period of development, it was rather dismaying to learn in the spring of last year that Netflix wouldn’t be moving forward with Aurora, an apocalyptic thriller written by Jurassic Park scribe, David Koepp.
As you may know, there was a change in leadership at the streaming platform’s film division around that time, and Bigelow’s project – her first since 2017’s Detroit – was one casualty of many. Mind you, some reports have suggested that Bigelow may have actually exited the project, leading to its cancellation.
Either way, it wasn’t welcome news, but was sweetened by the reveal that Bigelow is collaborating with the streaming platform...

Kathryn Bigelow's first movie in eight years gets an awards-friendly release date in theaters and on Netflix. After making her directorial debut with the biker movie The Loveless in 1981, Bigelow made a name for herself helming several thrillers, such as Near Dark (1987), Blue Steel (1990), Point Break (1991), Strange Days (1995), and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). She gained critical acclaim for The Hurt Locker in 2008 and Zero Dark Thirty in 2012, but it's been eight years since her last movie, Detroit, was released in 2017.

At long last, Netflix is pulling back the curtain on Kathryn Bigelow's mysterious new movie at the streaming service. Since last year, the Oscar-winning director behind The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, and Point Break has been quietly assembling a star-studded cast for her first feature in eight years, including Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson. Only now, however, do we have an official title and release date for her long-awaited return, and it is not far off. The project will go under the name A House of Dynamite and is officially set to stream on the platform on October 24. In a rare move by Netflix, it will also be available in select theaters during the month.
Featuring a screenplay penned by Noah Oppenheim, who previously created Netflix's Robert De Niro-led political thriller series Zero Day, A House of Dynamite is also a thriller centered on the White House.

Spoilers ahead for all live-action "Star Wars" shows.
It's been nearly six years since the great Disney+ "Star Wars" project began with "The Mandalorian" season 1 in 2019. In the absence of any theatrical films since "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," streaming has become the de facto platform for the franchise, and Lucasfilm has put out an honestly staggering amount of live-action television in just over half a decade. That's in addition to the fantastic work constantly being done by Lucasfilm Animation, but today, we're specifically talking about the live-action "Star Wars" series.
As of right now, the future of live-action "Star Wars" on Disney+ is unclear, with "Ahsoka" season 2 being the lone exception to the rule. Not only that, but "Andor" creator Tony Gilroy (while addressing the show's massive budget) has also claimed Disney told him, in his own words, "Streaming is dead, we don't have the money we had before.

Barriss Offee once predicted the fall of the Republic. She sensed that the Jedi had lost their way during the Clone Wars and worried that the growing Darkness had overtaken them. Her fear and anger led her to the Dark Side, attacking both the Jedi Temple and her best friend. After bombing the Jedi Temple, she framed Ahsoka Tano for the crimes. Only after Anakin Skywalker apprehended her did Barriss make a full confession for her actions, exonerating Ahsoka.

When it comes to Star Wars, everyone has an opinion.
Before Disney purchased the rights to the franchise, it really felt like fans might never see live-action offerings again. But the House of Mouse swooped in, for better or worse, and now we’re all swimming in an ocean of new content from a galaxy far, far away.

Kelly Marie Tran faced a tidal wave of racism after she was cast to play Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. She was the first Asian woman to play a lead role in the world-famous space saga and some so-called fans reacted with venom.
Now, Tran is celebrating her heritage and picking Asian-lead movies. “I’ve been able to learn how to celebrate the parts of myself that, at the time, I was scared of, or I was made to feel like I had to be ashamed of,” she told Variety. Next up for her is The Wedding Banquet, where she'll star opposite Lily Gladstone. She plays a queer woman in the film - and last year, she came out as queer herself.
“This past year, I did four movies, and they were all Asian stories with Asian writer-directors, and a few of those were also queer writer-directors,...

I want to open this article by saying hi there! I'm white. I'm the textbook definition of "White Girl" with my family hailing from the UK and the Netherlands. I get sunburned through my office window. I am as white as they come. So now that's established:
John Boyega is right about racist Star Wars fans.
Via Entertainment Weekly, Boyega discussed his experience being cast as Finn in the sequel era and the immediate backlash for being a black man existing in a fake space movie. He said, "Lemme tell ya, Star Wars always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It's a franchise that's so white that a Black person existing in it was something." He then added, "They're okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it's like, 'Oh my God, it's just a bit too much!

John Boyega put himself on the map with a star-making performance in Attack the Block. When he later travelled into a Galaxy Far, Far Away for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we had high hopes for his Stormtrooper-turned-Jedi and expected big things from the talented rising star.
Unfortunately, Lucasfilm dropped the ball on Finn, and his story arc disappointed Boyega and Star Wars fans in equal measure. The Last Jedi separated him from Daisy Ridley's Rey and completely ditched the idea of a Stormtrooper potentially being attuned to the Force.
The Rise of Skywalker revisited that subplot at a surface level but was so crammed full of story and apparent damage control that it never fully committed to it.

John Boyega, the actor who played Finn in the latest Star Wars trilogy, has remained one of the most honest people around when speaking the truth about the rampant toxicity in the fandom. As a co-lead in The Force Awakens, Boyega is one of several actors in the Star Wars film and TV universe who received racist attacks online, along with Kelly Marie Tran, who played Rose Tico in The Last Jedi, Amandla Stenberg, previously featured in The Acolyte, and Moses Ingram, who played Inquisitor Reva in Obi-wan Kenobi. In an interview for a new documentary called Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood, Boyega had some choice words for the haters, as reported by Entertainment Weekly:
"Star Wars always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It's a franchise that's so white that a Black person existing in [it] was something.

In their luxury bunker, the ultra-wealthy last survivors of a global disaster break into song – to sometimes painful effect – in Joshua Oppenheimer’s bloated if visually stunning debut fiction feature
The most frustrating thing about The Act of Killing director Joshua Oppenheimer’s first fiction feature film, the wildly ambitious, catastrophically self-indulgent post-apocalyptic musical The End, is how close it comes to greatness. Set entirely in an oligarch’s luxury bunker concealed in a former salt mine several decades after an environmental and societal collapse, the film’s production design is a triumph, the layers of sublimated memories and inconvenient truths papered over with immaculate and moneyed interior design.
The performances are mannered but work rather well given the rigorous artificiality of the backdrop. Michael Shannon plays the energy tycoon father, Tilda Swinton his brittle, mercurial wife, George MacKay their sheltered, half-formed adult son and Moses Ingram is a standout...

There’s a startling contrast to The End, introduced in its first minutes. A gloomy, dusty salt mine is soundtracked by light flutes and strings. Inside the mine’s cavernous depths, Father (Michael Shannon), Mother (Tilda Swinton) and Son (George MacKay) live in an opulent mansion, where paintings and books line every room and hallway. Through hopeful song, they affirm that “together our future is bright”. But what future is there at the end of the world?
Joshua Oppenheimer’s offbeat riff on post-apocalyptic Earth reveals its circumstances in a slow trickle. There’s word of fires that have consumed the planet, then the fossil fuels that ignited them. At first glance, a musical seems like an unusual shift for Oppenheimer, best known for his pair of unflinching documentaries on the anti-communist Indonesian mass murders of the mid-20th century, The Act Of Killing and The Look Of Silence. Quick LinksReva's Character Arc in Obi-Wan Kenobi Was Incredibly ControversialWhy Reva's Character Still Doesn't WorkWhat Happened to Reva in the Star Wars Franchise?
Obi-Wan Kenobiremains one of the more controversial Disney+ series in the Star Wars canon even three years after its release. Fans campaigned for the project for years, demanding one more adventure for Ewan McGregor's destitute Jedi Master. However, the final product proved to be disappointing for many Star Wars fans, who praised McGregor's performance but found the overall series rather lackluster. While much better received than The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte, the Obi-Wan-centric series could never live up to more popular Disney+ projects like Andor and The Mandalorian.
One of the biggest controversies surrounding Obi-Wan Kenobi was Moses Ingram's character. The Queen's Gambit actress plays Reva Semander, the Third Sister of the Imperial Inquisitorious who serves as a major antagonist in the series.

Ayo Edebiri has revealed that she received death threats and racist comments after Elon Musk shared a fake news story about her replacing Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In February 2024, Musk shared a fake report claiming Disney was considering Edebiri to replace Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with the caption, "Disney Sucks." Musk is certainly no stranger to sharing false information, but this headline caught the attention of some bad people who decided to take their anger out on the Emmy award-winning star of The Bear.
In an Instagram story (via Variety), Edebiri explained how Musk boosting a fake Pirates of the Caribbean news story resulted in her receiving "some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life." She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany is addressing how some fans reacted to the Marvel series, praising her series creator for being able to anticipate it. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuted on Disney+ on August 18, 2022, and was a breath of fresh air for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, offering a comedic take on the superhero genre that felt true to the spirit of the beloved She-Hulk comics. Despite being one of the most faithful Marvel Comics adaptations, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law found itself on the receiving end of adverse reactions from fans who acted as if She-Hulk twerking with Megan Thee Stallion was the worst thing to ever happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking with Collider's Perri Nemiroff, Maslany was asked about the reaction to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Although some fans responded very positively to the series, Maslany herself was the target of a great deal of harassment,...

According to the rumors, 25 years after her first appearance in The Phantom Menace, Natalie Portman may return to Star Wars as Padme Amidala.

Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The End” revolves around an apocalyptic scenario in which a wealthy family lives in an underground bunker two decades after the apparent end of the world. It is not the only 2024 film that explores a catastrophic global crisis. Guy Maddin and Johnson brothers’ “Rumours” also highlighted the hypocrisy of those with wealth and power misusing it while being complacent about their minor noble deeds. Oppenheimer’s film uses the absence of an exterior world to highlight certain aspects of this family’s interior lives. Instead of calling its characters by their names, the writer refers to them by their roles in the context of their isolated setting. So, in this story, they are just friends, doctors, mothers, or girls – depending on what they represent in their isolated world.

David Corenswet—tall, striking, with a smile that could thaw the iciest of hearts—is on the cusp of donning the iconic red boots of Superman. The actor is stepping into a role that many actors would give an arm and a leg for—Clark Kent. And while countless renditions of this character have graced the screen, Corenswet’s take, under the sharp eye of James Gunn and Peter Safran, promises something unique.

Moses Ingram first came to viewers’ attention as Jolene, the best friend of Anya Taylor-Joy’s character in The Queen’s Gambit, a role that earned Ingram an Emmy nomination. After parts in Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Tragedy of Macbeth and Ambulance, the Baltimore native returned to home turf for a starring role on Alma Har’el’s Lady in the Lake, a whodunit about a Jewish housewife in the 1960s, played by the show’s exec producer Natalie Portman, who risks everything to become an investigative journalist trying to solve the death of Cleo Johnson, played by Ingram. The limited series that pushes all boundaries when it comes to genre and tone is a wild showcase for Ingram, who gets to demonstrate every skill she has as an actress. But for the 30-year-old, the highlight of the project was returning to the place her ambitions were born. “I did a lot of dreaming in Baltimore.

As people gather from different corners of the globe to reunite with their families during this holiday season, here comes a film about a family that’s never apart. That’s because they’re all, or nearly, the people left on the planet. For many that may sound like a horror movie, but this can’t be completely categorized as that. As may be expected it is a fairly heavy drama, but it’s also…a musical. This year has seen many tune-filled tales of different styles. We’ll soon see a couple of “jukebox” biographies with Better Man and A Complete Unknown. And the multiplex is still packed with fans of the Broadway-based Wicked. But this new film is closer in spirit to last month’s Emilia Perez as it tackles an unusual subject to be set to music. After all, would you be bursting into song, let alone dance,...

Michael Shannon continues to add to his legacy as one of the most compelling and exploratory actors today with director Joshua Oppenheimer's post-apocalyptic musical, The End. Shannon joins a super-talented ensemble as a troubled patriarch with the world's blood on his hands. For Shannon, this role isn't all that different from others, even if it is a contemptible person. "It's my job to explore the viewpoints and the journeys of people that are not myself," Shannon told MovieWeb. "It's helpful to try and see their point of view."
Shannon plays "Father," an extremely wealthy oilman whose family has survived a climate apocalypse due to a vast complex underground bunker he bankrolled. The bunker has closed the family off from the outside disaster, and deep within it, Shannon's character teaches his son (born in the bunker) reality from his perspective, literally 're-writing' history. On some obvious level, this character is an evil figure,...

Apple TV+ recently hosted a screening and panel conversation for “Lady in the Lake” at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists in Los Angeles. Upon conclusion of the screening of the seventh and final episode, titled “My Story,” star and executive producer Natalie Portman and star Moses Ingram engaged in a fun Q&a moderated by Variety’s Emily Longeretta. Later on, attendees enjoyed a lively reception, complete with hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
“Lady in the Lake” streamed this summer on Apple TV+, with creator-executive producer-writer-director Alma Har’el adapting the thriller from the book of the same name by Laura Lippman. Besides Portman and Ingram, other cast members include Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, and Pruitt Taylor Vince. Portman is a Best Actress Oscar winner for “Black Swan” (2010), and Madison is getting major Oscar buzz right now for “Anora.

Riding out the apocalypse in a bunker isn't just for rich people, though they may be the most comfortable when the end times actually come. No one's exactly comfortable in The End, a somber musical that takes place after the world has ended. Tilda Swinton and Michael Shannon star as the mother and father of George Mackay's character, a boy born around the time his formerly wealthy father's dealings in the energy sector might have contributed to the collapse of society.
A wealthy family lives in isolation within a luxurious bunker, unaware of the world beyond their walls. When a mysterious girl arrives at their doorstep, her presence threatens to unravel the delicate balance of their secluded existence, leading to a tense exploration of trust, survival, and buried secrets.

After fearlessly interrogating man’s capacity for evil in Oscar-nominated documentaries The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence, filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer returns with The End, a bunker-bound musical set at the end of the world. Despite that unexpected logline, the core themes Oppenheimer grapples with in his work––i.e. the nature of absolution and the self-deception that makes us uniquely human––are still very much present in his fiction-feature debut.
The End’s bunker is occupied by wealthy energy magnate (Michael Shannon), his wife (Tilda Swinton), and their son (George MacKay). An allegory, they are credited as Father, Mother, and Son. A few lucky others get to join them in waiting out the apocalypse––also nameless, their titles, their vocations: Butler (Tim McInnerny) and Doctor (Lennie James). Bronagh Gallagher has a meatier role as Mother’s best “Friend,” who also functions as the chef. Moses Ingram as...
