‘The Santa Clauses’ Season 2 Trailer Amps Up the Search for His Successor (TV News Roundup)

Gearing up for the holidays, Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses” has dropped the trailer for its second season.

Set after the events of “The Santa Clause” films, the Christmas television series has Tim Allen reprising his role as Scott Calvin/Santa, who decides to retire from the “Santa” position in season one and find a new replacement. However, the end of the first season saw Scott fail to find an individual worthy of the “Santa” title. This time around, Scott is determined to train his son, Cal (Austin Kane), to be the perfect Santa successor.

“The best part of Christmas is spending time with your loved ones,” Scott says in the new trailer. “Which is why I’m so geeked to turn Santa into a family business.”

Exclusive: Roku has greenlit second seasons of Reptile Royalty, UFO Cowboys and Lincoln Log Masters.

Coming a few days after striking an unscripted distribution deal with Fifth Season, the AVoD giant has re-upped the shows that spotlight zoos, UFO-watchers and log building.

Reptile Royalty follows social media star Jay Brewer and his team running the zoo in California, caring for more than 600 of the rarest exotic reptiles on the planet alongside his daughters and fearless, fellow animal lovers.

UFO Cowboys follows the Cowboy Sky Watchers, a group of ranchers who investigate extraterrestrial encounters and paranormal activity throughout the American West—an area with more paranormal sightings than anywhere else in the U.S.

Roku and Fifth Season have inked an international distribution partnership for select Roku unscripted original TV series and movies, the companies announced Wednesday.

Under the deal, the “Severance” producer will exclusively manage the sale of select Roku unscripted projects’ international rights, excluding the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, with Fifth Season serving as Roku’s international format and tape distribution partner for the slate of content.

Roku original projects listed in the initial slate include Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis’ “Honest Renovations,” survival competition series “Fight to Survive,” “Morimoto’s Sushi Master,” “Celebrity Family Food Battle,” which features Sofia Vergara as an executive producer and Manolo Vergara as a host, Jay Brewer’s “Reptile Royalty” and “The Cupcake Guys,” which features football veterans Brian “Rak” Orakpo and Michael “Griff” Griffin. Exclusive: Roku is ramping up its adventure series slate.

The streamer has ordered three new series to launch later this year – Fight to Survive, hosted by American Ninja Warrior’s Akbar Gbajabiamila, Reptile Royalty, featuring the Reptile Zoo in Fountain Valley, California, and UFO Cowboys following a group of ranchers as as they investigate paranormal happenings along the 37th Parallel.

Fight to Survive will take audiences on a journey to a remote, tropical island for an intense survival competition. A social experiment that drops 17 survivalists onto a remote, tropical island, it will feature contestants from past seasons of Survivor, Naked and Afraid and Alone.
