Aldís Amah Hamilton is an actress of Icelandic and African descent. Born in Germany, she grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland, and is fluent in both Icelandic and English.
Aldís studied at the Icelandic Academy for the Arts and graduated from the acting program in the spring of 2016. Prior to graduating she started shooting the TV series Prisoners (Fangar), where she played the role of Natalie and had been offered to make her stage debut at the National Theatre of Iceland, playing the role of Desdemona in Othello.
Aldís's film and television roles include Dísa in the Netflix co-production Valhalla Murders; Sandra in Vultures and Eyja in the Netflix Original Series Katla, directed by Baltasar Kormákur. Aldís's most influential role to this day is Aníta, the leading role in the television production Black Sands I and II, directed by Baldvin Z. She is the shows co-creator alongside Baldvin and Ragnar Jónsson, and one of the leading writers for both seasons.
In 2024 She starred in Hellblade II, taking on the character of Ástríðr. The game was well received and secured Aldís a Bafta nomination for her performance in 2025. Black Sands also went on to be nominated for several Edda's (Icelandic TV&film awards), one of which was for leading actress.
