Elite Season 8 Review: Netflix's Once-Addictive Teen Drama Ends With Very Few Thrills & Surprises
Image
Elite season 8's murder lacks excitement. The characters are inconsistent and hard to root for. The series finale is fitting, but the story offers very few surprises along the way.

Elite follows a group of teenagers who study at Las Encinas, a super-exclusive school attended by those with a lot of money and power in society. One of the biggest aspects of the teen drama is the culture clash between those with scholarships and the ones who pay to go to the school. Elite season 8 once again explores that element, with students getting into situations that put them and their loved ones in danger. As with every season, Elite's final year once again revolves around a murder, but it feels like the same old in many ways.

We love his character very much and we wanted to give him the importance we think he deserved.”

“However, the conflict in its classrooms is systemic: racism, sexism, domestic abuse or Lgtbi-phobia are just a few of the difficult issues that will run through the hallways of the prestigious institution this season."

"If those who run the system do not actively take action to address these issues, it will have to be the students themselves who do so.”

While the cast exits haven't been seamless in the slightest, Elite Season 6 is poised to be completely different.

Samuel (played by Itzan Escamilla) was seemingly killed off at the conclusion of the previous season, but there were some rumors that he survived.

The season will see its share of classroom conflicts, from racism, sexism, domestic abuse, and Lgtbi-phobia, forcing the students to take action themselves to address these issues. In the new trailer (watch below), we see returning cast members, including André Lamoglia (Iván), Valentina Zenere (Isadora), Carla Díaz (Ari), Martina Cariddi (Mencía), Adam Nourou (Bilal), and Manu Ríos (Patrick), many of them shirtless and making out with each other as water showers down on them from above. Elite Season 5 Finale Shocker: Are They Really Dead?
Élite (2018)
Rest in peace, dear one -- if you're truly dead.

With Elite's sadistic track record of killing off main characters, I shouldn't have been surprised by this season's fatal blow, but it floored me, so much so that I'm not sure it was fatal, after all. Bodybag, or it didn't happen, right?

Spoilers ahead! If you haven't watched, continue at your peril

I have two theories: Samuel is dead, the cliffhanger cleverly employed to compel us to watch Season 6 (not that we wouldn't anyway) or Samuel is on the brink of death, will live, and will leave Las Encinas for good, Itzan Escamilla exiting the show.

The latter would be preferable.

Samuel has gone through far too much to die poolside of a head injury. However, that manner of death is eerily similar to that of his Season 1 lover Marina, so it could be a full-circle closure of his storyline.

Elite Season 5 Gets Netflix Premiere Date, Revamped Cast, & Teaser
Élite (2018)
Changes are on the horizon for Netflix's hit Spanish drama Elite.

The streaming service on Monday revealed Elite Season 5 will launch on April 8.

This will be the first Elite content since December's Short Stories.

A teaser was also unveiled that shows the characters dancing the night away, and their reactions certainly suggest something is afoot.

Elite Season 4 waved goodbye to Miguel Bernardeau (Guzman) and Aron Piper (Ander), leaving Itzan Escamilla (Samuel) and Omar Ayuso (Omar) as the only original cast members remaining.

Claudia Salas (Rebe) and Georgina Amoros (Caye), who have been on the show since its second season, will be back.

Elite Season 4's new cast members Carla Diaz (Ari), Martina Cariddi (Mencia), Manu Rios (Patrick) Pol Granch (Phillipe), and Diego Martin (Benjamin) will all be back for Elite Season 5.

Valentina Zenere and Andre Lamoglia are set to play new cast members on Season 5, and they're both present in the new teaser.

Elite Scores Early Season 6 Renewal: When Will New Episodes Premiere?
Élite (2018)
Netflix is doubling down on Elite, which is set to become one of the streamer's longest-running series.

On Thursday, the service ordered Elite Season 6, well ahead of the still unscheduled Elite Season 5 premiere.

What's more, we're getting three holiday-themed episodes of the Spanish teen drama with new episodes of Elite: Short Stories set to air in December.

The specials are as follows:

- Phillipe, Caye, & Felipe (December 15)

- Samuel & Omar (December 20)

- Patrick (December 23)

The renewal was a no-brainer. Elite has solidified itself as one of the streamer's most popular dramas.

Also helping matters is that the cast rotates in and out, meaning that unlike many other shows, the budget will not be soaring with every season.

Elite follows the students of a private secondary school in Spain that always seems to attract scandal.

Elite Season 4 waved goodbye to another two original stars in Miguel Bernardeau (Guzman) and Aron Piper...

Recapping ‘Elite’ for Round 4: Battling Stereotypes, Private School, and Murder
Image
Photo: 'Elite'/Netflix ‘Élite’ is more than a predictable teen drama; it is a murder mystery with a steamy high society twist. Set in Las Encinas, the most exclusive private school in Spain. The story is centered in a space where money means power, and fortunate teenagers have all of it. Furthermore, the lower class is completely foreign territory, and thinking about sharing a room with them is the same as walking on puke. ‘Élite’ follows the life of Samuel Garcia (Itzan Escamilla), a lower-class teenager, who by chance wins a scholarship to Las Encinas, and by the deceitful games of destiny, he finds himself trapped in the middle of a murder investigation. The cast is primarily Spanish actors relatively new to the industry, except for Lu (Danna Paola). Danna Paola has been a famous star since she was a child, starting in children's Novelas, and evolving into a Latin American pop star.

‘Elite’: Netflix Sets Season 4 Premiere Date For Spanish YA Drama Series
Image
Netflix has set June 18 for the worldwide release of Season 4 of its popular Spanish YA drama series Elite.

The series received an early fourth season renewal two months before Season 3 premiered, and it was renewed for Season 5 in February, ahead of the Season 4 launch. Created and written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, Elite is one of the streamer’s best performing Spanish originals, with Netflix noting in 2019 that it had been seen by more than 20 million households.

Season 4 picks up with a new school year at Las Encinas, as well as a new director (Diego Martin): one of the most powerful businessmen in Europe, ready to bring the Las Encinas institution, which, according to him, has been running amok in the past few years, back on track. He brings his three children with him: three teenagers too used to always get their own way,...

Elite Season 4 Gets Netflix Premiere Date: First Look!
Élite (2018)
Netflix has (finally!) announced when Elite fans can check back into Las Encinas.

The long-delayed fourth season of the private-school drama will land on the streaming service Friday, June 18.

An episode order has not been revealed, but it is expected to be in line with the previous three seasons, which spanned eight episodes apiece.

The premiere date means fans will have been waiting 15 months between seasons, but the long delay is due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Elite Season 4 production was forced to shut down, but it resumed a few months ago, and with work on the season has now been completed, production on Elite Season 5 has already commenced.

Yes, fans have a lot of Elite to look forward to, but this won't be the same Elite we know and love.

Andrés Velencoso, Manu Rios (El Chiringuito de Pepe), Carla Díaz (El Príncipe), Martina Cariddi (Mientras dure la guerra), Pol Granch,...

Netflix’s ‘Elite’ Season 4 Coming June 18
Image
Netflix Spain’s popular YA series “Elite” season four will premiere on June 18 worldwide. Among the service’s most popular programs in any language, “Elite” stands among the few series, international or American, to surpass the three-season mark at the platform.

The U.S streaming giant first announced season four just about two months after season three launched on the streamer and was seen by more 20 million households. The cast, including Miguel Bernardeau and Claudia Salas, announced the pickup via a video from their homes in quarantine. In late February of this year, Season Five was commissioned by Netflix, and two new key castings announced in Valentina Zenere and André Lamoglia.

The two newcomers will join the now superstar cast including series regulars Miguel Bernardeau, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amoros, Itzan Escamilla and Omar Ayuso, who joined the show in season three.

“Elite,” is set at the fictional Las Encinas academy,...

Elite Season 5 Ordered at Netflix With More New Cast Members
Élite (2018)
The trials and tribulations of the students at Las Encinas will continue to be charted at Netflix.

The streamer on Thursday officially ordered a fifth season of the Spanish-language drama Elite, well in advance of its Season 4 premiere.

Netflix made the announcement on Twitter, but Deadline revealed that the fifth season will also bring another two new cast members into the fold in Argentinian actress Valentina Zenere (Cable Girls) and Brazilian actor André Lamoglia (Juacas), but no character details were revealed.

Elite typically likes to keep viewers in suspense when new additions are announced due to the nature of the series.

Each season follows a new mystery in a similar vein to Big Little Lies, with the characters being quizzed by the police about the events.

Elite was renewed for Season 4 in May last year, but production was scuppered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the series finishing filming much later than originally planned.

Elite Season 4 Adds Several New Cast Members: Who's Not Returning?
Élite (2018)
Just because Elite is returning for Season 4, don't expect every cast member to return.

Netflix on Monday revealed the official cast for the fourth season of the Spanish drama series.

Andrés Velencoso, Manu Rios (El Chiringuito de Pepe), Carla Díaz (El Príncipe), Martina Cariddi (Mientras dure la guerra), Pol Granch and Diego Martín will be part of the universe of Las Encinas, the streamer has announced.

Their characters will cross paths with Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau), Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Ander (Arón Piper), Omar (Omar Ayuso), Rebeca (Claudia Salas), and Cayetana (Georgina Amorós).

To celebrate the new additions, Netflix has also unveiled the first cast photo, and as previously reported, several stars from the first three seasons are nowhere in sight.

Álvaro Rico is out as Leopoldo "Polo" Benavent Villada after the events of Season 3, which followed a How to Get Away With Murder-esque killing that resulted in his character being, well,...

Back to Las Encinas! Netflix Renews Elite For an "Intense" Season 4
Image
Netflix's Elite has been renewed for season four, so more drama awaits! On May 22, costars Itzan Escamilla, Claudia Salas, Georgina Amorós, Miguel Bernardeau, Arón Piper, and Omar Ayuso confirmed the news in a video, saying that they've already received the script. "You better be prepared, because it's intense," Piper says. Amorós also teased a powerful season, saying, "I wish I could see your faces when you watch it because you're going to flip out. There are many new things going on you could never think of."

The announcement came only two months after the third installment dropped on the streaming platform and totally shook things up. At the end of chapter three, we see how each of the main characters go their separate ways, except for Guzman (Bernardeau), Samuel (Bernardeau), Omar (Ayuso), Ander (Piper), and Rebeca (Salas) who return to Las Encinas to repeat senior year.
