Image
Since its debut in November 2022, Netflix’s supernatural mystery comedy series Wednesday has captivated audiences worldwide. With its gothic aesthetics, witty storyline, and comedic flair, the series did not take long to become one of the best and most-watched English-language series on the streaming platform.

Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar with the brilliant Jenna Ortega in the lead, four of the eight episodes of the first season were directed by none other than the phenomenal Tim Burton. His visionary genius, coupled with the magnetic presence of Ortega as the titular Wednesday Addams, allowed the show to reign over streaming charts worldwide.

Over the course of season one, the show reimagined the iconic Addams Family franchise with a darkly comedic, mystery-driven narrative set at Nevermore Academy—a boarding school for supernatural outcasts. 'Wednesday' Creators Expect Fans to "Fall in Love" With Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump
Image
A new member of the Addams Family will be introduced during Wednesday's anticipated second season, and series creators can't wait for fans to meet her. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar recently spoke with Netflix's Tudum about the upcoming season of the hit dark comedy series and what audiences can expect. They also discussed Joanna Lumley's addition to the Tim Burton-directed series. Lumley will portray Morticia's mother, Hester Frump; you can catch a glimpse of her in the trailer below.

Speaking about Lumley, whose iconic portrayal of Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous is beloved and acclaimed, Millar told Tudum:

"The idea of bringing Hester, Morticia's mother, into the fold this season was something we were so excited about. The first day on set when Joanna walked on, she just was Hester, and she nailed every single line, and it's just so delicious. She's perfect and hilarious. That...

Luis Guzman Hypes 'Wednesday' Season 2 While Promoting Action Movie Havoc
Image
Wednesday fans have been waiting patiently – or impatiently in many cases – for the second season of Tim Burton’s reworking of The Addams Family to bring Jenna Ortega’s take on the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams back to Netflix. Now, the new season is only several months away – a lifetime, we know – but the hype around the new season has already started, and one person happy to buzz up Season 2 is star Luis Guzmán.

Guzmán follows Raul Julia and Tim Curry in taking on the role of The Addams Family patriarch Gomez, and in many ways his take on the character is much more in line with Charles Addams’ original comic strip character than any of his previous appearances. While speaking to MovieWeb’s George Edelman about his new movie, the Tom Hardy actioner Havoc, Guzmán shared a tease of Wednesday Season 2, noting that everyone is going to...

Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Sets 2-Part Netflix Premiere
Image
“Wednesday” Season 2 has set a two-part premiere date for this fall.

“Wednesday” Season 2, Part 1 will premiere Aug. 6 on Netflix while Part 2 debuts less than a month later on Sept. 3, the streamer announced Wednesday. The two-part strategy marks a switch-up from last season, when “Wednesday” dropped all eight episodes of its first season on Nov. 23, 2022.

Netflix also unveiled the teaser for Season 2, which sees Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams returning to Nevermore, beginning with a particularly painful Tsa screening, which sees Wednesday unloading a handful of weapons on her person into a bin. The weapons are not what creates a problem for the Tsa agents, however, as Thing slid in some sunscreen that poses an obstacle for the airline.

“Suncream, seriously?” Wednesday scolds Hand in the teaser.

“This is the first time you’ve ever willingly returned to a school,” Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia Addams says in the trailer. “Like returning to the scene of a crime,...

'Wednesday' Star Reveals How Percy Hynes White Controversy Impacts Season 2
Image
Wednesday is returning for a second season on Netflix, with Jenna Ortega back on the scene as the show's creepy, kooky, and altogether ooky teen detective. She will be joined by several familiar faces from the first season, plus a slew of new series regulars and guest stars, but Nevermore Academy has at least one less student in its ranks this season. Percy Hynes White, who faced sexual assault allegations in 2023, previously confirmed that he wouldn't be returning as Xavier Thorpe for another year and that the series has moved on without him.

White's Xavier Thorpe featured heavily in the first season of Wednesday and was poised to play a significant role in the show's sophomore run, as he was one of Wednesday Addams' two romantic interests, alongside Hunter Doohan's Tyler Galpin, leaving fans to wonder how Season 2 would address the sudden absence of one of its main characters. According to Emma Myers,...
