‘Amityville Hex’ Is a Low-Point Even for This “Franchise” [The Amityville IP]
Image
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”

There’s something simultaneously exciting and horrifying about discovering the worst entry of the Amityville “franchise” more than 35 films in. And yet, Amityville Hex truly is *that* bad.

The first of writer /director Tony Newton’s two entries, 2021’s Amityville Hex is a disaster in nearly every way. From amateur acting to a repetitive script to an egregiously long (and unearned) runtime, the film embodies all of the negative qualities that have earned “Amityville” films derision and mockery.

Modeled on the screenlife model popularized by Host and, to a lesser extent Unfriended and Searching, Newton’s film focuses on vloggers who participate in “the Amityville Hex”, which involves reading a chant on camera, then documenting the aftermath.

It’s a fairly simple premise,...

‘The Beast Beneath’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Brinke Stevens, Mel Novak, D.T. Carney, Eric Prochnau, Alana Evans, Sheri Davis, Jennifer Nangle, Raymond Vinsik Williams, Geovonna Casanova, Ken May, Shawn C. Phillips | Written and Directed by Dustin Ferguson

Writer and director Dustin Ferguson (Zombi VIII: Urban Decay) is an incredibly prolific filmmaker with 110 directorial credits (so far) on IMDb, churning out dozens of films in a year be it under his name or his “Dark Infinity” moniker – which is the name under which he directed The Beast Beneath. This film also features a couple of now-regular performers that Ferguson works with: scream queen Brinke Stevens and Game of Death‘s Mel Novak.

The Beast Beneath sees an earthquake some 20 miles from San Diego awaken a prehistoric beast that starts to feed on the locals, with only the Sheriff ((D.T. Carney), scientist Charlene Brinkeman (Brinke Stevens) and her brother Aaron (Eric Prochnau) willing to stop it. Meanwhile,...

‘Zombi VIII: Urban Decay’ Review
Image
Stars: Jennifer Nangle, Erik Anthony Russo, Ronnie Angel, Mel Novak, Shawn C. Phillips, John R. Walker, Ken May, Noel Jason Scott, Pat Kusnadi, Ashley Morgan Kilbride, Julie Anne Prescott, Ricky Egan | Written and Directed by Dustin Ferguson

I’m not going to lie, I had absolutely no idea this film even existed, or was part of an unofficial offshoot of the Zombi series first started by Lucio Fulci. That film was an unofficial sequel to George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and had its own sequel, Zombi 3 some years later. And whilst the Italians released some unrelated films as Zombi 4 and 5, it would seem John (Sleepaway Camp superfan) Klyza’s Retrosploitation label has put out not one, not two, but Four “Zombi” films prior to this, which is part Eight of their series… Like I said, I had zero idea this film was even a thing until...

Ebola Rex Clip Has a Diseased Dinosaur Tearing Apart Los Angeles
Image
A new clip from Ebola Rex has been unleashed. In the tease, we learn that not even the military can take down the massive dino terrorizing the city. The movie comes from prolific director/writer Dustin Ferguson, who also delivered 5G Zombies and Angry Asian Murder Hornets earlier this year. Previous trailers focused on the plot of the movie, but here we get a look at a full scene, which should be more than enough to get fans of low budget cinema sucked in. Ebola Rex will be available September 1st on VOD and DVD from Scs Entertainment.

Ebola Rex starts during a "Dino Lives Matter" protest, when a captive Tyrannosaurus Rex is injected with the Ebola Virus by a crazed protester. The dinosaur escapes the lab to wreak havoc in Southern California, which is teased in the new clip and previous two trailers. It's up to an obsessed, renegade Soldier to stop it.

New Ebola Rex Trailer Turns Los Angeles Into JurasSick Park
Image
Last week we warned that the makers of Angry Asian Murder Hornets and 5G Zombies were up to something devious. It was later revealed that they will be closing out their summer 2020 trilogy of craziness with the ultimate dino-slasher Ebola Rex. Shot in the same amount of time it takes to get a bloodied Florida Man off the hood of your semi-truck, the full trailer for Ebola Rex has washed up out of the sewer. Get your mask on, slide into those rubber gloves, and prepare for the most Drive-In movie of a summer built on Drive-in movies.

Ebola Rex Trailer: A Diseased Dinosaur Unleashes Maximum Carnage
Image
We have a brand new trailer for Ebola Rex. This is the latest creation from the folks at Scs Entertainment, who are able to churn out low budget B-movies at an alarmingly fast rate. These are the same folks behind recent, timely movies such as Angry Asian Murder Hornets and 5G Zombies. In this case, we have a dinosaur flick that is mirroring recent national protests, in addition to taking a page or two from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Only without the massive budget and bells and whistles that come with that kind of money.

The trailer opens up by throwing an awful lot of information our way at once. A dinosaur lives matter protest was taking place. That leads to a T-rex being injected with Ebola. Per the headline on the news broadcast, this has resulted in a lockdown of the city. We then get into the chaos, with...
