He is the son of two lawyers and has an older sister. Engin studied at Izmir Türk Koleji (ITK) but transferred to a public high school in his senior year. He then enrolled at the Izmir University of Economics (IEU), majoring in Public Relations and Advertising. After graduation, he began working as a copywriter at TBWA/Istanbul. A few years later, he earned a master's degree in Directing from the Prague Film School. Subsequently, he directed several short films and commercials for both local and multinational brands. Rüzgra Birak (2024) is his first feature-length film.
