Biography

Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan, commonly known as Ashwin Kumar, is an Indian actor and voiceover artist predominantly working in the Tamil and Telugu film industries.

Kumar completed his schooling in Carmel Garden before pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kumaraguru College of Technology. He also earned an MBA from the PSG Institute of Management.

Kumar became passionate about acting in college and debuted in the television industry with Office (2013) on Star Vijay. He debuted in Tamil films with a minor role in Ok Kanmani: Ô ma chérie d'amour (2015), directed by Mani Ratnam.

He went on to appear in the movies Rettai Vaal Kuruvi (2015) and Ninaika Therintha Manamae (2017). In 2019, he also starred in the film Adithya Varma (2019) alongside Dhruv Vikram.

Kumar also appeared in numerous short films like Idar (2017) and Kadhal Onru Kanden (2020), where he played the role of Mathew. Kumar won the award for best actor in Tamil at the SMIFA Awards in 2019 for the short film Blink (2019).

He made his web series debut with link=tt13235450]on Zee5, where he played the role of Vinay. The next year, he played the role of Ashwin in Live Telecast (2021) on Disney+ Hotstar.

Kumar was also a contestant in the second season of the cooking show Cooku with Comali (2019) on Star Vijay. He was the second runner-up on the show. His appearance on the show earned him widespread acclaim. He won the award for Trending Pair at the Vijay Television Awards alongside Sivaangi Krishnakumar Sivaangi Krishnakumar. He also won the most popular male on Reality Television at the Behandwoods Gold Icons awards.

Kumar played the lead role in the romantic comedy Enna Solla Pogirai (2022). The same year, he debuted in the Telugu Industry with the anthology Meet Cute (2022) and acted in the thriller film Sembi (2022).

Kumar has appeared in numerous music videos, including Cloning Kadhal (2015) by Arun Sundar, Rhythm of Life (2017) by link=nm4226746], Kutty Pattas (2019), Yaathi Yaathi (2021) by Abhishek CS and more.

He has also worked as a voiceover artist in the song Guru Undu Bhayamillai from the album 11:11 (2023) by Ady Kriz.
