The film begins with Prasad getting smitten by Sreeja, a girl he stumbles upon on the street one day, eventually deciding to pursue her, meeting her in a boat where they start to get closer. Flashforward some time later, the two, who have eloped since they belong to different castes and her family did not agree with the marriage, are riding a bus to Kasaragod. Sreeja is wearing a gold chain Prasad has given her, which they plan to sell in order to drill a borewell on their land, to harvest tobacco plants as their supporting business, as we learn from flashbacks later on.

Patriarchy in Indian society is deeply rooted, with the consequences for women being evident throughout. At the same time, the issue has been the source of a number of movies, particularly during the latest years, with titles like “Biriyaani” being one of the first that comes to mind. Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil, who is known for ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’, ‘Malik’ and ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, is set to headline the upcoming Malayalam film ‘Karate Chandran’. The film also stars Malayalam actor Dileesh Pothan, who has earlier collaborated with Fahadh on ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ and ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’.

Film editor Kiran Das, who has worked with the actor in ‘Joji’, took to his Instagram and shared pictures of the actor from his Karate training session. Kiran also shared a picture of the film’s bound script.

He wrote in the caption, “Fahadh Faasil in and as Karate Chandran, Directed by Roy, Written by S Hareesh and Vinoy Thomas. More updates soon”.

‘Karate Chandran’ marks the third collaboration between Fahadh and Bhavana Studios. The production house has previously produced ‘Joji’ and ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, where in Fahadh Faasil played a major role.

Shesham Mickeil Fathima, the upcoming Malayalam film starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, has been acquired by Gokulam Movies for worldwide theatrical distribution. The film, written and directed by Manu C Kumar, is a musical drama that revolves around the life of a singer named Fathima and her relationship with a radio jockey named Mickeil.

The film also features Hesham Abdul Wahab, the music director of the critically acclaimed film Hridayam. The film marks his second collaboration with Kalyani Priyadarshan, after Hridayam.

The theatrical trailer of Malayalam movie ‘Thankam’ was released on Tuesday by acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil, who is also producer of the film. Faasil, who was recently seen in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Vikram’, released the trailer on his Facebook page, wishing the team success.

‘Thankan’ is directed by Saheed Arafath with a star cast featuring Biju Menon, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Gireesh Kulkarni, and a number of Marathi, Hindi and Tamil actors.
