In a recent interview with Comic Natalie, voice actor Tomikazu Sugita opened up about his initial hesitation to take on the lead role of Sakamoto in Sakamoto Days anime.

His reason? A sense of déjà vu tied to his past work.

Sugita admitted that while he was aware of the manga’s buzz as a rising Weekly Shonen Jump hit, he was hesitant to take on the role due to similarities with a character he had played before.

“I had already played a protagonist in a similar position in a Jump anime before, so I had that in mind, and it felt a bit like déjà vu.“

When the audition opportunity arose, he initially focused on another character, Kashima. However, his agency strongly encouraged him to also consider Sakamoto.

During a stage event at AnimeJapan 2024 today, upcoming isekai comedy anime No Longer Allowed in Another World announced two additional cast members to join leads Hiroshi Kamiya, Rumi Okubo, Sayumi Suzushiro and Makoto Koichi. Hina Kino will voice Annette's familiar Melos, while Reina Ueda will play Sensei's suicide-pact lover Sacchan. As previously reported , the series is scheduled to begin airing in July 2024 . Tsutomu Mizushima, director of the Girls und Panzer series, is heading a new original project, titled Where Does the Doomsday Train Go? The anime, which is set for an April 1 premiere in Japan, has many of the director's hallmarks rearranged in new ways. In a time when "fantasy" means dungeons and guilds, Where Does the Doomsday Train Go? bucks the trend with its fantastical premise of a train trip through the true unknown.

Toho Animation's long-awaited anime adaptation of the popular light novel series The Apothecary Diaries has received a new update.

A new trailer for the upcoming series, which highlights its animation and provides a more detailed look at its plot and characters, has been shared by studio Toho Animation. The series will premiere later this month with the first three episodes.

Based on the light novel series of the same name, The Apothecary Diaries revolves around Maomao, a quick-witted young girl with an extraordinary knowledge of medicine who is kidnapped one day and unexpectedly finds herself at the imperial palace. Her encounter with the head eunuch, Jinshi, brings her into a world of secrecy and danger, as she must serve as a lady-in-waiting to the Emperor's favorite consort Gyokuyou, tasting her food to detect poison.

"Hero Classroom" is a new anime TV series, directed by Kosuke Kawamura, starring Reiji Kawashima, Misuzu Yamada, Nao Toyama  and Hina Kino, streaming July 2023 on Crunchyroll:
