Jermaine Carter was born in Fresno, Calif., and raised in Atlanta. One of his accomplishments as a teen was winning a freestyle music contest on a local radio station. This early success encouraged him to continue creating music. It also caught the attention of several established entertainers including Jamie Foxx, who has become a professional mentor and friend. Foxx has produced several of Jermaine's albums (as J Young MDK) as well as encouraging Jermaine in his music and acting endeavors. His acting roles began in as a soldier in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," (2015) followed by a role as Zachary Belcher on the Investigation Discovery Channel program, "Speaking for the Dead." (2016). He was cast in a prominent role in the Tupac Shakur biopic, "All Eyez on Me" (2017) as Hussein Fatal, Tupac's confidant and Outlawz frontman. In 2020, the same year he made musical history by releasing two full-length albums on the same day, Jermaine was part of the Netflix holiday program, "The App That Stole Christmas." (2020.) Next came a role as Jacob in "Lola 2," (2022) which showed the challenges faced by a champion amateur boxer who falls in love and has a baby, but also wants to continue her career in the ring. Celebrated director Des Gray chose Jermaine for the lead role in "Mixed Girl" (2022), where he portrays James in his early 20s and early 40s. The short film tells the story of how James discovers he has a 20-year-old daughter who appears to be going down a dangerous path. So, he has to get to know her at the same time he is helping her and learning how to be a father. Jermaine also is co-producer of "Mixed Girl."
